Hello,
NO!!! this is not about the good and / or evil of rams and HO's. what I'm intersted in is the the "model" behind it. Who dies and who lives (and gets a kill) when two planes collide. I can't figure out what sort of logic is behind it. Can anyone help?

cheers

the server automagically detects who'd be most pissed off and assigns them the damage.

Ssimple actually.

If you see a collision, you'll take the damage from it. If he doesn't see one, on his end he missed, so no dmage.

Because of internet lag, what you "see" is not always what he "see's".

Even with good connects the other guy can often be 3 to 800 yards closer than you think he is.

Lots of people have complained about this . But the fact is all the alternatives are worse, way worse.

As long as we have internet lag we will have this collsion model.

The only person who can cause or prevent a collision is YOU!

Why don't they just turn off collisions? Its as if it really changes the dynamics of the fight with the HOs anyway. Most of the collisions happen in a scissor in my case anyway.

While I know (from reading the articles on it) the statement "you rammed me" should really be "I rammed you", it seems some pilots have it down to a science where they can make you ram them:) A familiar one is trying to avoid the head on. If not makeing a lead turn to engage ( I want to fly by and not engage), I used to try a type of barrel roll as we were meeting. I can't tell you how many times it looked like the plane pulled right into my face and BOOM. Now I just go nose low at about 500 and continue on my way.

I honestly doubt most pilots in here actually mean to ram someone.  I know I've done it a few times myself when I misjudged my closure rate and ability to evade the collision.  If it happens I simply tell them over channel 1 sorry.  I'd much rather be flying and returning to base than taking the chance I'm gonna win the latency battle.

Think about how that would change gameplay Delirium.

Thanks but no thanks, its not hard to avoid 95% of em if you try.

I get rammed maybe once a week, no big deal. I couldn't care less either way, but...

How would it change gameplay? You'd see more head ons? :rofl

the sad thing is, the ram model is so screwy that when I attempted to Ram some Lancs (I was outta ammo and the only friednly that was able to get them before they reached target) I flew right through them.

Manman

Did you comprehend nothing of what I said above?

Collision code is not only not "Screwy" but is the only one that works and is fair to all.

LOL
i had AWind admit on CH1 e rammed me because he was out of ammo.

he was a yak i was a 190. he was D400 back and i did not know he was bingo so i did evasives. it basically turned into a rolling scissors and he put nose forward one time to hit me intentionally. even said so.

i took damage to both wints (fully gone) and tail.

he flew away.

oh well my story. take it how you want.
I don't know what to put here yet.
