SUPERFLY: Swiss markings for the 109 (Emil perhaps?)
« on: August 23, 2000, 05:52:00 AM »
Salute aces (especially Superfly, our great artist)

How about doing something that no other WW2 sim had done before? How about bringing some colourous change to the same camo paints?

Here's my idea: please do a Swiss paint job on one of the 109s, Emil preferably if we ever get one (yeah baby, back to the roots)...

Swiss markings offer several advantages to the normal axis paints:
  • no Swastikas - no discussion about it
  • advanced main arena compatibility: the Swiss Airforce shot down everything that entered their "neutral" airspace
  • AH to be the 1st sim to model it!!
  • improved attraction to the HUGE market of Swiss online simmers
  • very easy spottable markings in a NO ICON enviroment (err is that an advantage...?)
  • plain beautiful artwork
  • etc...

so please HTC have a thought about it...

personally I like the green fuselage, white nose, swiss markings on wing and tail - paint best... (ME109E/Sep.'44)

I'd much rather have a 109E in JG 26 markings.

That plane would be perfect for sneaking behind others - they would think its flown by 'red cross' and therefore neutral

By no means I want to offend or interfere with my Swiss friends but if there ever comes an Emil (and it will) there has to be a German version as well, you know replicate the BoB, hurries, early Spits etc. That would be kewl, right?!

And bring the A26 and Hurricane (Mk IIC/D) to AH!!!

I personally think that BF-109E should be modeled after JG2 Helmut Wick's plane. After all, at one point he became the highest scoring LW pilot of BoB only to die trying to mantain his leading score position.

I used to have his bio page up, but Geocities decided to pull my site of not so long ago...

One question in regards of Swiss 109s? I thought Swiss was neutral during the war, so what's the purpose of us having BF109s modeled after them?

mx22, as I already said the Swiss Airforce defended Switzerlands neutral airspace. They forced about 76 allied buffs to land or shot them down. But they also shot down German fighters and buffs since LW was ordered to engage Swiss. That's what we have in MA now: own country is good (green) - shoot down all others (red) may they be Bish or Rook!

About the historical aspect. True historical match-ups concerning paint schemes aren't makeable anyway unless we get customizable paintschemes or several options for one plane. WW2 was fought on several fronts with hundreds of squads and every had its own paintschemes.

I just kinda like the Swiss paintschemes - I think they're something new, something else, refreshing, never been done before. They are historical: 109 flew with those colours and were engaged in combat. We also have Finish markings - so why not Swiss?

Thx for the backup Santa
