I wish more murderers would lean into a fast ball.  It's a shame they never found the girls' bodies.

N.H. Dad Accused Of Killing Two Kids Found Dead
Gehring Charged With Murdering His Two Children

POSTED: 8:53 a.m. EST February 19, 2004

CONCORD, N.H. -- The New Hampshire man accused of killing his two children and burying them in the Midwest last July has apparently killed himself.

The state's attorney general confirms Manuel Gehring's death in jail.

Gehring had been in a child-custody dispute with his ex-wife when his 14-year-old daughter Sarah and 11-year-old son Philip disappeared after a Fourth of July fireworks show in Concord last year. He was arrested in California a week later. The children's bodies have not been found.

Court documents say Gehring admitted shooting his children in southern New Hampshire, then driving west with their bodies in his van before saying a prayer, making duct tape crosses on their chests and burying them.

After his arrest, Gehring spent a week with authorities in the Midwest, presumably helping them try to find the bodies. They're believed to be somewhere within 10 miles of Interstate 80.

Gehring, 44, pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder charges. He was set to go on trial in September. His lawyers had suggested they would pursue an insanity defense.
