Frame rate on a P4-3.2 and 9700Pro ... hmmm
« on: February 18, 2004, 03:38:13 AM »
System: Pentium4 3.2 Ghz, 512MByte RAM, Windows XP HE SP1, DirectX 9.0a, Radeon 9700 Pro with Cat 4.1 ... AH2 beta 14, 1280x1024 @32 bit, with every graphic setting maxed out ...

Sitting on the rwy in my 109G-10 I get around 20-25fps only ...  :(

I tried it with XP2000+, 1gig RAM and 9800 Pro 4.2 catalysts. Like you I got absolutely appaling frame rates in the 30's. Now, I know the video card is processor limited, but I was V dissapointed.

I can play Halo at 1074 x 768 no problem.

Only thing I did was port my AH1 settings file to AH2 to save me setting things up again, which may be an issue.

Anyhow, I uninstalled AH2. Don't think I'll bother again till it's done.

With V-Sync off and no FSAA I get about 27fps on the rwy with the 109G-10 ....
Yes, I know its still a beta. However, I hope HTC will work more to tune the graphic engine.
IIRC the officially announced average system able to run AH2 should be a P3-1Ghz with a GeForce 2 .... so my P4-3.2 with a 9700 Pro *should* be able to run at full settings ... shouldnt it?

Ape, under video settings, try to select all the options and move all the sliders to the left (best quality). Then set FSAA and AF to none and retest the fps.
Should be a better way to test the thing ;)

You can't be upset with your fps!  My gawd give the card a break!  6AA, 16 AF, 1280x1024x32?  Turn it up anymore and you'd cave in the sides of the case!

Gatt set the LOD and Object size to 0.2, crank it up to 1600 res and 4 AA and 4 AF with AF at performance setting not quality.

If you set AF to quality thats when the text buffer, Map and player icons become blurry and difficult to read.

Note the change from LOD and Object set at 0.0 and at 0.2 is small but the fps hit is large.
