Slow downs with AH
« on: February 17, 2004, 05:04:14 PM »
Not sure whats going on, but I'm getting slow downs on my new system when I run AH1. I'll run at 100 fps and suddenly the system goes into slow motion mode (My P38 will manuver as such) and my frames drop to half (66 or so).

Thanks in advance!

Slow downs with AH
« Reply #1 on: February 18, 2004, 03:44:19 AM »
I did alot of fooling around with my system, from uninstalling the new TV card to re-installing DirectX. I can get it to run properly limiting 45 fps via the AH video option, after noticing that the 60fps fixed most of the problem. The good news is that even in furballs with GVs, smoke, ground clutter etc it doesn't drop below 45.

Why does this fix it? Is this going to continue in AH2? I understand the human eye can only notice 25-30 fps anyway, I'm just curious.

Thanks in advance!

Yes, and I have the exact same problem... I'm just curious why dropping the frames to 45 makes AH work.

Skuzzy? Anyone?

I can only guess.  It probably has something to do with vsync being off.

Something like this is usually related to some odd installation order of software.  Hard to nail down.
