Alternative to the vehicle spawning in the middle of nowhere.
« on: August 19, 2001, 10:23:00 AM »
Statement:I dont like the way vehicles spawns out of nowhere. (Not realistic?)

What if there where somekind of garage complex, or small fortified military camps (with garages inside) spread around the map, where the spawn points are today.

These should be fortified and have some heavy guns (player controlled) for defence against spawn campers, this fortification should be possible to capture, perhaps 2-4 88MM cannons to use against both airplanes and thanks + some aditional 20mm and 40mm guns.

This could give us even some more strategic targets to go for.

I know we have some vehicle bases today.
When you are in the hangar\garage in one of these you have the choise to press the H button to start under the camo net, and you usually have the option to press 1-4 other buttons to spawn closer to the enemy field, this is where I feel we should have these fortified garage\military complexes.

Perhaps some of these "new" bases could be placed within some bigger cities ?

To take this even further, these "outposts" should be connected with roads or/and railroads.(After all we are getting railroads\roads in 1.08).

I love the smell of napalm in the morning.
The smell, you know that gasoline smell, smelled like victory.

I like the idea, but having fotified camps so close to enemy bases is not realistic too.

Actually, spawning on the runway is not realistic too... carbombing... fleets that disapear after cv is killed... ditched planes go no where, and you do not need to walk to base on your feets... and that bottle of vodka in la which I can not drink is not realistic too  :)

But idea of defended spawnpoint is not bad... at least when you vulched on the runway it is your fault, check acks first, if you are at a vehicle spawn... It is just a bad luck, there is no way to check if it is camped unless to try.

You only get suprised at a spawn point once.  After that its simply a decision.

And regardless of how you set it up, it will be spawned.

The main downer to this suggestion is that you now put enemy ack very near to a friendly base.  Can't say I'm a big fan of that idea.

Ok, I see the problem with having it to close to the enemy field.

Solution: lets remove it a bit further away, not much, as I see the point with these spawnpoints are to prevent hours of pointless driving.  ;)

The ack should be player controlled only, exept perhaps the 20mm (against parachutes).

I am shure this should be possible to get done somehow, the idea just need some tweaking  :)
(And lots of programming from HiTech`s side ;))

To sum it up, it would be nice to have forward bases "à la wwiionline".

There are always options.  I personally am more interested in cities than bases as flags to fight over.

As for having vehicles, yet move fast across the terrain so you never have to drive for 30 minutes I would have the road itself be capturable.  You have cities with one capture point, and roads with capture points at either end.  Airbases would be set off a small distance away from cities, but not every city has an airbase.

Like this.

Thats what I would do.

I would further add that any road that is between towns that have been capture would be captured too.

Hans.

I like LtHans idea   :)

I think it would add to the gameplay, giving us greater variety, not only the endless furballs.

When I read the other posts on the board I find that my suggestion are directly linked to these topics:

And

This just show that we are several people thinking the same way, wanting the same evolutionary direction for the game   :D
