I love a good furball, but I really like these types of realistic missions too. I do not care for the random base capture for the sake of base capture thing, its kinda pointless. Your mission was well planned and executed, not just a mob jailbreak.
I do recall you comming after us. It was our responsability to decoy...not to see a single con and shoot it down if it was not a threat to the mission.
And it worked, I took the bait all the way.
As you approached the La flight, Lowe set out to keep an eye on you. As he said, we wanted to drag what we could north away from the river. When you started back we started to worry. I really thought you gave up and was RTB. Then Stream sent out an SOS. Thats where our comunication broke down. When we met with the bombers, I saw you smoking a single bomber. That was me that enguaged you but it was spoiled when I dove too fast, was still too late, then missed the shot. I had no idea Deej was comming after me...my wingman and I were slit up and I had no 6 call. When I over shot you, I looked back to see what you were going to do. If you had turned back, I was to continue climbing and get back to the bombers and form with my wingman. If you were to head back to the bombers, I was to eliminate you which is what I expected you to do. Well, Deej kinda eliminated me. When I looked to see what you were going to go, Deej stole my wing then I exploded. We were, or at least I, was expecting only one con to be after the bombers...YOU! Because of a simple comunication problem, plus me not "rubbernecking", I died. It was a tuff sortie. We had a plan, that included strategic base "flashing". We were too far from the bombers then too close, then too far, then too close. Due to the capturing of A1, fuel was a big concern. The rest of the La7s had no choice, even when we departed we knew, but had to land at the port. That is when oldman joined in...but not for long { oldman}
And that's the cool thing LT, real missions had communication problems, signals get crossed, flights get separated, that is one of the cool things about missions like that one. I can not take credit for locating the buffs though, it was all Deej. We saw the first signs of the mission very early and thought you guys were going way up north above the mountains to hit something up there. For a while we sat in the tower looking at the flashing bases trying to figure out were you were heading. He knew what was up long before I did.
Jg3 captures bases in an organised but suicidel type mass formation..ruthless and relentless but you know were they will end up. (At a VH Base or an Airfield). We know what targets they will select first, whet needs to be eliminated in order for it to be captured. We try to pick a target that we decide is a realistic type (strat) target and treat it as Jg3 would treat the importance of a base capture. The bridge was bombed and the mission was considered a huge success, although the CT flyers may not think so, and those front line bases could not get thier beer. We take pride in these types of missions. The way Deej was thinking is what we want, we want others to get interested in these realistic type missions.

I would like to see more of that too, but it is hard to do since most folks treat the CT as "MA Lite" or a large multiplayer dualing arena. I do remember as Deej and I got into vis range of the A20's we could not figure out what they had done, we thought they were hitting the PT base, yet saw no signs of damage there. The A20's were obviously OTW home, we did not know what happened.
We dont normaly concern ourselves with the typical "shane mentality" of "turn&burn" furballing skills. Some of our squadmates fly for weeks and never even have the opertunity to land a kill. They do it for the love of the mission. However, we do understand some players like oldman have little time to play and want a quick fight.

I understand, but I think the best way to do it is first learn to be deadly, then learn to stay alive. Staying alive has a lot to do with flying smart, and teamwork with a wingman and a squad. Do it the other way around and you may get good at staying alive, but you will never really get deadly.
Some of these maps have great (gameplay meaningless) strat targets that require tough, deep planning and fuel management(hard to do with the crazy base capture). You should see thay mission orders that were sent to the 78th by Stream. They are in Adobe format with screenshots (recon pics) of the targets.

I am generally a furball type, but you will get me intereseted in a gameplay meaningless (IE realistic) mission loooooong before you will ever get me interested in simple "plant the flag" base capture.
Hopefully on tuesday and thursday nights, axis CT players will enter the arena at 9pm eastern and begin to wonder what target the 78th and/or 325th plan to attack. Much harder to figure out when it isnt a base!

Well, as you know I swap back and forth between axis and allied, but any time I am flying axis on those nights you can rest assured I'll be looking for ya.
