Something going on in the Sky over NY?
« on: February 24, 2004, 06:38:59 PM »
Just was outside walking the dog and hear the roar of a jet engine overhead. Nothing new, as I'm only a few miles from Kennedy.

I looked up to see a small airplane at altitude moving at extremely high speed.

This is unsusal around here. We don't have any bases on long Island with fighters anymore, and this guy was in an aweful hurry.

It was too dark to make out the type of plane.

Maybe an intercept?

We still have F-16s "The Jersey Devils", out of Atlantic City
that can respond to situations over NYC pretty quickly.  Maybe
you caught one of those?

Could have been. At his Alt, speed and due to darkness, I could not make out more than the size of the A/C and would make it out to be about the size of a fighter.

He was heading South East toward the ocean.

*shrugs*

Strange because I never see military planes around here, and just yesterday I saw a C-130 for the first time. Now today, this.
