Some pictures taken during a recent visit to Hendon.

All the exhibits are superbly restored - you can get up close to all of them, but there are so many they could do with a little more space in order to see them all. But at least they are all under cover and protected.

The lighting in the bomber hall has been changed to reflect night time operations - which has good atmosphere, but is a nightmare to photograph unless you have professional lighting - which is not allowed. (hence some of the dark shots).

I didn't include shots of the Lancaster as I have others of the Lanc owned by the Panton Brothers in Lincolnshire. (If anyone wants copies, let me know).

Very, very nice :-)

Bit of a photographer myself and have been to Hendon on several occassions armed with my camera, a tripod and a bag of film. I know how horrible the light is there. This first time I went there I knew nothing of photography and was stunned of the way my friend's photos looked. That sparked my interest in photography really.

And good to see the Defiant is still there, that's my favourite plane in Hendon.

Thanks for the great photos!

I went there about 4 times in '98 and being a crap photographer ended up shooting about 9 rolls of film for a grand total of 5 pictures that look any good.

One of the good ones is a Sth African friend standing next to Herman Goering's life size replica - spitting image she was - very funny
