Flak flak flak and feathers..
« on: May 06, 2000, 04:05:00 AM »
I realy miss some serious flak in AH. Those acks are too easy. I'm not saying drop all the ack and bring in the flack but some key fields in the map could use some extra ga defense. Like the cities and hq's for example. I think it would be a blast flying your b17 through a carpet of little fluffy killer clouds.

Oh and on another note, maybe I missed it, but where is the prop feathering in this sim? I seem to have to glide my bombers just about every mission so a little feathering would be nice.

I know the B17 and most other bombers could feather their props or ,in other words, put them in a position which created the least amount of drag. I read it was very common for a bomber to loose more than one engine during runs and those dead props caused massive drag. So I was wondering if that was implemented in AH. Do AH planes autofeather, do we get drag from dead props or non of the above?

Flak is supposed to be part of the 'effects upgrade' 1.03

Koed,

You don't have to worry about feathering props as prop drag is not yet modeled

Strictly speaking, all AAA guns are flak.

Man, I love this guy.  Koed, I think the acks are too weak too, would love to see the old strength with the new numbers

one of the first things I noticed while driving around an airfield in a new M-16 when the 1.02 version came out was that there are three different types of AA guns at the fields.  Although they all seem to have the same function at the moment, I doubt that HTC would go to the trouble of makng them look different if down the road they don't have a different function.

Dunno, but I would just love to attack the city while I'm being ripped apart by HA fragmentation shells...the thuds of the cannons ... the whistling of shrapnel.. ooh sweet bliss..

Lefto, yes he does, 88mm will be in 1.03 apparently...btw, hope you got a fast system, imagine a formation of, say, 20 bombers, 10 escort, and flak puffs start pecking their way into the formation, now, for effect, lets say that you're near a cloud bank,, then enemy fighters shoot through the bomber stream, and 200 .50 cal guns light up... can you say 1-3 Frames per second? Ahh, thought you could!

Yes, I'm talking about 88mm. 40mm should do some nasty things too The effect introduced in WB 2.5 or so was really nice. Let's see how it gets here.

And funked, I know that Flak (Flugabwehrkanone) is basically the same as AAA, but I think the english speaking crowd sets Flak = Heavy AAA.
