Collision Model
Seems fine to me and bug free so far.  The "wall of trees" no longer exists and I like that.  Individual trees stopped the motion of an M3 by headon contact, reversing into a tree, and side-swiping a tree.

Gunner positions
By tilting the the M3's gun down and rotating, the gun seems to "stick" for a moment and then catch up with the view.

Ditching
The P40E cannot do a gear-up belly landing.  It results in flopping and an instant trip to the tower.  The 109G6 (which, btw, is beautiful) skids properly.  However, the ground/metal combo seems to have a very low coefficient of friction... took a while to stop even at low speed sliding :)

Lighting
Plane models seem rather dark even at noon sunlight.  Fuselages seem rather dark.  It doesn't feel like daylight... feels like a flashlight is shining and there is very little 'scattering' of light into the atmosphere.

Shadows
ATI Radeon 9600XT card here and the P51D's shadow looks great.  It does not show through the plane or cover anything.  However, inside a hangar, the shadow still appears on the roof or ceiling.

The new lighting effect is definately a step in the right direction. It looks very natural.

However, like Oct says, the disparity between the highlights and shadows is a bit too extreme. I know how dark a shadowed aspect can look, even in the middle of the day, but the shadows are so dark, that the planes look as if they are on stage, with a very strong spot light. When sitting inside the cockpit of the new G-6, the shadow is so dark that it makes both side cockpit bars solid black in tone!

 ..

Lighten it up a bit, and I think it'd be very good. Not too much though - if too light, it'd be practically no different from what we already had.

Wonder if there's an arena setting for the brightness of the sun, like the colours of the sky.

Just looks like ambient light intensity is a little too low, while directional light intensity is ok.

After putzing around offline for a little while, I actually kinda like it.   In another thread, erg mentioned the light looks great from up high... it does.  It has a more realistic feel to it.

I gave Beta 16 a quick try.  I did fall through the terrain in a M3.  It was just off the runway in the direction of the river.

I think it's looking good!

cc Eagler.  But I can't say I've contributed much in the online department.  Once the framerates stabalize (or I upgrade), then online gameplay will see a rise in numbers.

It will either happen naturally or we can start organizing a weekly AH2 time for some numbers.
