In what way do you equate two simple factual statements an Insult? I Took your remark as an insult on what I find Important.

Is Weaselsan in fact no other than our resident master-of-disguise, Mr.Black?

Mid-sentence capitization is suspiciously familiar.
War! Never been so much fun. War! Never been so much fun! Go to your brother, Kill him with your gun, Leave him lying in his uniform, Dying in the sun.

Probably not. It would be a very deep undercover, sleeper persona. Far too subtle. But what is with the capitalization? Is it catching?

Here ya go whiney boy

PARIS, Feb. 29 (UPI) -- Cinema chains in France have refused to distribute Mel Gibson's film "The Passion of The Christ" for fears that it will spark a new wave of anti-Semitism.

France is the only European country where there is still no distribution deal for the film of the last 12 hours of Jesus Christ, the Daily Telegraph reported Sunday. The movie is scheduled to open in Europe next month.

"We don't want to be on the side of those who support such anti-Semitism. When we distributed 'It's a Beautiful Life' we were worried about the risk of making a comedy about the Holocaust, but that was different," a veteran film industry figure told the Telegraph.

"There's enough anti-Semitic stuff circulating here already without us throwing oil on the fire."

Fire-bombings of synagogues and Jewish schools and attacks on rabbis have occurred over the past year.

Celebrated director Luc Besson is the only significant figure in the French film industry interested in screening the film in his country, according to the Telegraph.

I'll just go to an underground threater to see provided I can avoid the Gestapo night patrol and escape my ultimate fate.

I'm so sad poor little Mel wo'n tmake a lot of money here, it make me almost cry :p
I wonder if it's credible enought for mr WeaselSan ...

And there is nothing related with anti-semitism,it's just a business decision look who own Gaumont or UGC(*) for example they avoid bad business in general.

First ol Mel will make a 100 million dollar profit in 4 days, I doubt if he will notice. And it is related to Anti- Semitism....that is why it is not being shown.

I disagree I don't see any anti-semitism here it's only in the interpretation of some people.

France is not as religious as it used to be in the past, more and more often the French don't care of the opinion/directives of the church.
Gibson represent one trend of the roman catholiscism who had (and still have) an hard time in France the remaining christian won't give a € to him.

Btw why the thread tittle is : " France censors The Passion....." ?
• it's not a choice made by the governement/politics
 • there no more censor comity in France
 • no organisation of any kind started riots against the film
 • at least 50% of the whole French population don't speak araméen (notice I'm pretty prudent here :))
 •
So why is it "France who censor" ?

I can't stay out of this nonsense anymore....

FYI Weasel, Spielberg's  Schindler's List was a huge hit in France, acclaimed both by the public and the critic.

But it was a historic movie. This one isn't. It is based upon the religious beliefs of the viewers.

You're christian? Fine with me. You liked this movie? Good for you. Open your mind and accept that most people this side of the pond don't get all excited about it. Catholics in Belgium and France are mostly much 'quieter' than in the States. For instance, hysterical predicators yelling and dancing on stage would have a near zero audience here. I'm not saying that the faith is weaker (I am badly 'equipped' to speak for them), but IMO due to culture differences you and them live their faith differently.

I think that Gibson will make a flop here. Because the public won't follow. So why should the distributors risk problems with a film about religion (as it usually happens with this kind of movies: I remember wackos setting theatres on fire in france during 'The Last Temptation of Christ'...) when they are pretty sure that the profit would be almost nil? If they were smelling gold, they would run the risk, you can be sure of that...

So stop waving the antisemitism banner as an insult and climb down from your soapbox...

Oops I forgot: Luc Besson is a totally crappy director btw. I guess that he is looking more for the press focus than for anything else....

For those of you who still insist that the reason it is not being shown in France is for business reasons. Please read the following sentence very carefully.....You will notice that the news article ( not my opinion) but the article itself clearly states the following.....

PARIS, Feb. 29 (UPI) -- Cinema chains in France have refused to distribute Mel Gibson's film "The Passion of The Christ"

For fears it will spark a new wave of anti-semitism.

Now if these are lies please address them to the UPI..I did not write the article.
