by Brock Yates... Not a bad book.. He reserects the old "eliminator" that was terrorizing the sporty car crowd in the late 50's beating d type jakes and masser's and all manner of porches and Ferarris.

old t bucket with a small block and 4 speed and live axels all round.. Races it at the "historic" sets and still the car ends up with tin. He made a modern version using a 34 ford body and V10 viper that outperforms all the showroom supercars.

problem is... he seems to think that he is the only one who has done this... he is kinda pompous windy sort but the book is a fun read.

I read that book some 35+ years ago.... a great read....thanks Lazs....I had a great childhood....haven't thought of that book in many moons.

For some reason, I thought Henry Gregory Felson wrote the book?

The moral of the story completely passed me by....my first muscle car was a 69 GTX....that 440 just sang:)

rude.. I read all those old Hot Rod's from hell books back in high school.. lot of fun.

The book I am talking about is a little different but... still about hot rodders messing with the snobs.

Yates is a windbag but he's OUR windbag.
He's got a book about the Cannonball coming out that I want to read.

Me too Rude. Bought mine in 1976. All black with white interior. The 6 pack was gone and was replaced with a Holly 780 dual pumper, 3/4 racing cam, hooker headers and a 456 rear end, B-W tranny with scatter-shield. With Mickey Thompsons on the back you couldn't keep the front-end on the ground. Best she ran was 13.2 at the track (I think the rear gearing was wrong for the power, 454 HP), sold her in '82, boy was that a mistake.
