If anyone has knowledge about how to use torpedoes, either in a PT boat or aircraft, please make a film and share it with all of us.

I am preparing to finish the bomber section of the strategy guide and find that I have zerp experience in this area.

Any takers?

In pt boat, put the Tower of the CV on the edge of your monitor. Fire when CV ack has white waterspouts all around you. OR slow to torpedoe speed, setup intercept course, launch spread. This one you can launch a bit earlier since cv & torps both travel to meet each other.

Talk to Drill or Alleng, they were working on plane aiming system of some kind last week I believe. Depending on angle, distance & bow on variable it can take a LOT of lead.

direct headon shot with torps

you will live through it if you release right before acks fire and bug out to the side (U turn) and if the boat dont turn and your aim is good it will sink the boat every time.
Fester was my in game name until September 2013

Oh, oh.....dats me.

Ok, Lt Hans' guide to a free lunch, specifically sea food in this case.

Get your PT boat.  The PT boat is somewhat faster than a torpedo.  SLOW DOWN your engine to 2400 RPM.  At 2400 RPM your speed is identical to that of a torpedo.  The RPM indicator is much more sensative than the speed indicator to get an accurate speed.

Ok, now its time to pretend your a torpedo yourself and run an intercept course.  Intercept course is very easy.  If the target is neither drifting left or right from your point of view, your on an intercept course.  If you keep that course, the target will get larger, and larger, and eventually so large it appears your right next to it and about to ram into it...because you are!

Jump to the guns and swivel them on target.  Use your rudder pedals to turn left or right untill the target ship isn't drifting in view anymore.  Get as close as you dare, drop one torpedo on that course, one to the left a bit, one to the right a bit, and that last torpedo anywhere you want.  Fire off all four in a spread.  You'll increase your chances of a hit.

Hans.

Yeah, I hear ya Voss.  Every time I think about filming it, I don't have the time.  Somebody can do it.  Hell anybody can do it, even you:

In shorthand, here's how you do it:

Set up a pass from 40 degrees Angle off Nose
fly pure pursuit to target ship, and get in release parameters-- AON will increase to 45.
As ack starts splashing, turn lead until target ship is almost at edge of zoomed-out screen (torpedo is a little faster than ship).
Fire
Rudder turn away from target to minimize exposure to AAA.
