How Many Licks Does it Take to Eat a Panzer?

I have killed them with 1 AP hit at 3200 yards.  I have also seen them take 6 or 7 APs at 400 yards.

Last night, however, I put 18 APs at 2000 yards into a enemy Panzer before he blew! I think he had a good connect because the whole time he was spinnin his turret and tryin to drive around on 1 track.  BTW, I was about 1K above him on a hill if that may matter...?

Anyone else seen one take more?

I have seen this too.  Pumped at least a dozen AP into a Panzer once with no effect.

Done the same.

Killed em with 1 AP and as many as 11 APs. But i still have fun in the panzers. Use them more for field defence than the m16.

Bombs kill them good somtimes <grin wardog> and sometimes a panzer will live through 4000 lb of bombs...

  I think they have it modeled for panzer to take more hits forward. Less armour in the rear area plus the fuel tank is located there could allow 1 AP round to do the job. Iv'e snuck around behind panzers with m16's and nailed em with one burst of 50's.

I'm not sure what's going on with the tank.

I drive it alot and I can be killed by a 1c from any direction on the first pass or I can take hits from 5 or 6 1c dropping bombs and strafing.

I don't notice any pattern and I don't think I'm doing anything different.

I at 1 time had to hit another tank 29 times before he would die and when I asked him what was up he said he only heard 1 ping.

If you guys figure it out let me know.

The other day, I was defending an airfield from impending doom, when a Panzer showed up and started hitting vehicles that were surrounding the vehicle hangar.

He didn't see me pull my M16 up behind him, so I pulled up nice and close, got to the guns, aimed precisely at the low backside, and held the trigger.  Half of my rounds hit him before he started to move, and I emptied the rest of the rounds as close to the backside as I could as he drove in a semi-circle.  I think all I did was damage him a little.

I didn't have any expectations on killing him with the 50s though...should you be able to?

I drive pnzrs a lot but still you never know just how many rounds it's going to take to kill a pnzr.  I have had lots of 1 AP kills but I guess the average is around 3 - 4 AP rounds required to kill a pnzr.  Having said that I fired 20, yes 20 AP rounds into the rear of a pnzr at about 40 yards.  The pnzr was in ack and didn't know I was there.  I've mentioned this before but does ack somehow protect a pnzr when it's in it?  Additionally last tour there was 3 pnzrs firing at a single pnzr.  I had registered 18 hit sprites and I know the other pnzrs had hit it too and yet it was still alive and only after a F4U straffing the pnzr about four times did it die!  The F4U got the kill.  Strange eh?!
