this has NOT been a good week for ah and me.
ok, before i get started, lemme say DO NOT GET THIS ISSUE CONFUSED WITH THE COMMON FRAME RATE PROBLEM a lot of players have been experiencing in the last day or so...k? good.
i visited the nvidia site last night, and found a new "detonator" driver, which was made available 3 december. seeing as this was the latest driver provided (and i've had good luck with the last two recent updated drivers) i proceed to d/l and install.
HOWEVER, once i installed the newest driver, my ah frame rate went all goofey. when i say all goofey, i mean it was having a terrible frame rate EVEN BEFORE i started playing the game: ie, in the sign on screen all the way up to gameplay...the mouse would jerk across the screen, jerky movement, everything.
i assumed initially that it was due to the same problem a lot of other players have been having with the frame rate issue in the last day or so, so i left the computer and came back a while later, only to find the same problem. so, i then proceeded to reinstall the driver, thinking i had something running in the background or whatever that may have mucked up the install. did that, and same problem.
this morning, i tried a few more times to either reinstall the driver, or d/l the driver again and then reinstall. both ways, same problem.
i got pissed, did a search, and found a driver file which was released october 6 (driver file win9x_21.81), installed it, and poof...that fixed the problem (couldn't find win9x_21.83, which was the last one before this new one that gave me problems).
something i noticed on this latest attempt to install an updated driver, is that nvidia made the same driver available for win 9x and win me. with the other driver updates, win 9x and me were seperated. dunno if that has something to do with it or not.
i'm sure the newest driver has worked for some, but for those of you who have this type of problem after d/l'ing and intalling the driver released 3 december, this could be a fix. also, those of you who haven't d/l'ed and installed the latest driver yet, be warned.

BTW...i'm running win 98second, YES i have directx 8.1, 64meg nividia gforceDDR, blah blah blah blah blah....
