 http://www.sfspc.de/index_e.htm

it's an extremely nice soaring simulation
FM is great, and it has a nice scenerie for
an non prrofi product.

so, during overcast winter days, fed up with AH, we can at least fly our LS8 or ASW27
(K8 for hstoric fans) on our PC.

ok, who wil do the first 750KM  triangle?

KEWL.  I've been waiting fro the new version to come out.  I've been using X-plane but was looking forward to this one.

Good timing.  I just had my first solo yesterday (Grob 103).

Downloading now.

Pheeeew, I am lucky enough to have gotten my lisence too late to fly those Things

Downloaded the demo, didn't realyl have time to try it but the Graphic wasn't very nice IMO, only 7 minutes max flight time in the Demo aswell

Hows X-plane? Worth buying? can you fly gliders?

Yes it's worth bying if you plan to learn how to fly IFR or want to learn how to fly motored planes in course.

For it's gliders, it just doesn't feel like right.

I have SFS v.3 and have been using it to train during the long, dark finnish winters. It really is a wonderful simulator to learn about thermals.

X-plane is said to have the most realistic FM of all flightsims, because it uses blade element theory. But the planes in X-plane don't feel like real life airplanes.

But for flying IFR and flying long crosscountry flights it's really great. Just don't expect it to be a aerobatics or glider simulator.

lol, the good old Grob 103.
had my first solo in it too.
was the d-6412..rest in peace old buddy.

someone crashed it 3 weeks befor my license
check flight. (was '95 i think)

well duck..i only can say it again
AH fm doesn't "feel" right for me.
landing a 109 in ah is soooo easy.

Wb still my favourite.
btw, the Fm of the glider simulator is really nice.

bah no pc will ever capture the joy of planting a plane (any .. but for me the bigger the better  ) right on the spot where you wanted it to touch down.

Then again i can't shoot at real life A/C (thank god otherwise they'd prolly shoot back  )

anyways .. (got carried away here a bit)

IMO SFS is the best Glider sim out there. most other sims have better eye candy but hey this one got a Remo tow plane

Tnx Habicht i'm downloading demo

I have a KA6E and a lott of hours in KA6cr similar to Ka8 glider of the  demo so i can compare flight model whit the real one
The real Ka6 have an unrelistic flight model he can take 60° bank in thermal at 70 km/h and still outclimb LS8 i'ts an UFO very unrealistic flightmodel !!!

While X-Plane is not perfect, its pretty darn good and the price is much better than it used to be.  What I like most is the fact that I can fly at my own home airport with accurate terrain data and I've replaced the lame default textures with really nice ones and populated the area with the proper building types in their correct locations.  I especially put in a set of large oil tanks near by that we all use for navigation because they can be seen from far away easily.  There are some quirks.  I've given up trying to use it for cross-wind landing practice because it just doesn't behave correctly.  But for pattern planning practice, flying around cross country in a simulation of my home field area its very handy.  Good for tooling around getting a feel for how far away the other local airports are.  practicing rope breaks, low abreviated patterns, etc.  The additional buildings ,tanks and the Grob 103 I downloaded from user sites where you can get  all kinds of stuff.

Unfortunately, I can't get SFS 4.0 to work.    It spins wildly out of control the second I start!  It doesn't like my Siatek X36 setup I guess.  Very disapointing.

Ok, will give the Glider Sim another try , everybody knows what the Swedish "summers" are like

Might be able to get some practise before I go up again, hoping to do some distance soon

Hasqueak, have you tried Hangsim or Micro Flight from Ilan Papini?

The link is http://www.hangsim.com

Worth a look too.

And jsut to add, I agree with Habicht that there is something speciall with WB Gameplay, feels alot more as if you're actually flying in a WW2 plane.

Dunno why and how WBs and or AH FMs went into that discussion but i have to disagree with HAB and you Wil

for the exact same reasons that Hab prefferes WB over AH i preffere AH over WB.  I guess it's the difference in "feel" .. but as i said no sim will ever FEEL right unless you stay in a very tight part of the envleope and still use a full motion sim (feels VERY realistic as long as you don't exceed the normal airliner flight parameters)

anyways..

what's that microflight you're talking about Cyrano ?
