You actually get it through servers like Gamespy. The links to d/l servers are on http://www.americasarmy.com

It's OK but I still like the flying aspect. Plus, there do seem to be a lot of cheaters on AA. You'll see guys getting the most kills on their team in a 7 round match and when they kill, it's always extremely short burst headshots. Aimbots are available, "radar" to see where the enemy is hiding, speedhacks that let them run faster than normal...... you see that stuff, you just have to log and find another server.

But it's an option. The action is far faster than some of the maps here allow. BI

They have cheat like that in Call of Duty by now. Bloody well sucks.
How do the graphics compare to Call of Duty?
It was very interesting to carry out the flight trials at Rechlin with the Spitfire and the Hurricane. Both types are very simple to fly compared to our aircraft, and childishly easy to take-off and land. (Werner Mölders)

Not as good as Call of Duty. CoD is great if you can find a server setup with realistic settings (limited sniper rifles etc, realistic damage, limited grenades). It's a shame there aren't more maps that are regularly used.

Dowding, I have COD on the way. Bought it on E-bay cheap.

Any tips on getting online quickly, what to look for in the servers, how much cheating is going on?

Thanks?

You can get online through the game itself and it's very easy. Unfortunately, I stumbled across the only server I play on (EUMC.co.uk). It uses a server side mod called Pool's Realism Mod (PRM). You don't need to download it. This adds more punch to the weapons, adjusts firing rates, changes hit boxes etc for a more one-shot-and-your-dead kind of game. You'll notice less of the circle strafing etc and also less of the endless grenade throwing evident in the standard servers.

I'm sure there must be State-side clans with the same realism-orientated mentality, running the same Mod. Here's one:

CoD is worth it for the single player game, but I think you'll enjoy multiplayer too.

I've not known any blatant cheating, unlike in AA and CS. There is some exploiting of clipping problems on a couple of maps, but this has never spoilt a game for me.

Hope that helps! :)

Thanks!

I'm looking forward to fooling with it. I like the WW2 more than the terrorist theme of AA anyway.

Yes, the bunny-hopping, circle-strafing stuff is pretty lame. I hate that part of AA.

I'll let you know when I get up and running. Maybe you can show me the ropes.

I hang around a bit on the HQ games. MOBeach is my favourite server right now.
Version is 1.2 by now, BTW
The cheat I witnessed was either a room full of observers helping one guy out, or some kind of a tracking devise. The guy shot enemies through bushes and so on, - totally while unseeable.
His kill rate was like a 100 to 1 or so, and finally I think he got kicked.

Yes, the terrorist thing is so dull! Circle-strafing ruins many FPS type games, IMO. Bunny-hopping too.

Unfortunately, I'm not online anymore, otherwise I'd give you a game. When I re-connect I'll come looking for ya! :D

This is what threw me off when I first started out about a month and a half ago in AA.  Then I realized how spoiled we are with client-side hits in AH.  I asked about why they didn't go with client-side hit registration and some forum regulars there said it was because client-side is easier to hack.  But there are hacks in AA already (I've seen admin screenshots of guys with no fog and aimbots - see the airdale ops website), so ...?  Agree with the rest about the game-play online.  The only time I use the jump key is when I'm moving over obstacles.  Looks like I'm in a kangaroo farm sometimes...

Can you give a more specific link? I'd like to view those shots.

It's why I can only take a certain amount of AA per week. I know guys get good at it but when I'm running left another guy just appears around the corner running right and I instantly hear "bang bang" and I'm down with a head shot...... it sorta ruins the game for me.

I think AA ought to pay Dale to overhaul their webcode and anti-cheat technology. You see very little (if any) cheating in AH and it's client side.

best place to get AA is to download it from the nvidia website...

if the installer doesnt work for you just open up the zip and unzip everything somewhere...works fine but you have to put the update in the folder with it then update

Many of the 13thTAS have been playing AA for some time now....unlike Toad, cheating doesn't bother me that much, because I have the option of logging onto another server...unlike in AH when a crappy map is up or it's dark, I have no choices.

Our squad is getting it's own server in which each TAS member will have the James Bond chair thru the floor trip to death button, for all of those players who think their above the law:)
