That must have been a good concert. I love the swing music that came out a few years ago. Brian Setzer Orchestra and Cherry Poppin Daddys are good. Since my parents were in their 20s during WWII, I got a lot of swing influence from them. Great music and fun to dance to.
actually .. that is one of the best shows i have ever been to in my life.
if you know what summerfest is... they were playing a stage with a tent over it, about 97deg that night (97 at about 9:30 PM. it was sweltering in there. all those dudes had full suits on and were playing like mad.
a chick passed out from the heat in the middle of the crowd andf the golf-cart ambulance took 40 mni to get through the crowd to her. everyone was trying to make room, but as people at the fest walked by and heard the micus and heard the cheering... they joined the crowd.
i was lucky to be up about 5 feet on a platform on a bar so i could see the whole crowd with my gf at the time. i have never seen a show get that much attention AFTER it started. it seemed like word was spreading throughout the fest: come see this swing band. people were leaving other shows to get near this one.
with the heat everyone was in a grumpy mood you'd suspect.
nope
i have never seen people be that "helpful" or considerate to eachother at summerfest either. they were actually sharing beers and waters if the person next to them looked dehydrated. people were trying to dance wherever they were. there was this old couple that had been at the fest and overheard the music. they started swing dancing out in one of the throughofares between stages. they had a circle of 18-15 year olds around them cheering them on. it was a blast.
the end of the show they were playing their known last song and at the break they stopped.
everyone is going WTF?
they scotty stomped on the ground (an effects pedal obviously) and started hammering out the begining to nirvana's smells like teen spirit.
the croud exploded. everyone was jumping up and down and cheering.
BBVD cut back to their song and ended the set.
i have never left a show that pumped up in my life. you just wanted it to go on forever.
best showmanship ever.
best show ever
