Couldnt count how many concerts was at, I was 16 at a concert with my brother, saw these dudes in uniforms watching the show and smoking pot, told my brother--that is a great job, next day we were at The Andy Frain Office filling out applications and for the next 4 years got paid to see all the concerts we wanted :)
Problem was - my brother was about 6-3" and about 225 and I was 5 -10" 210, we thus became members of the goon squad in front of the stage beating back ijots with flashlights that held 6 batteries and lead shot in the bottom :)
( if any 1 who reads this was beaten at a concert in chicago during the early 70's please disregard the above statement)

any way, saw mucho concerts :)

True story...

Went to see the Ramones back in 1977 in Santa Barbara, CA.  As a goof (we really didn't like them much) my buddy had a Ramones '45 and was going to get it autographed after the concert. There was an autograph line, while standing in line my bud says something about the Ramones being a bunch of sweetheartbags.

When he reaches the head of the line Joey Ramone looks at him, smiles really big and writes "We ain't no duchbags" (complete with spelling errors) on the 45. My friend had it framed and it was in a place of honor in his apartment for years.

That must have been a good concert. I love the swing music that came out a few years ago. Brian Setzer Orchestra and Cherry Poppin Daddys are good. Since my parents were in their 20s during WWII, I got a lot of swing influence from them. Great music and fun to dance to.

actually .. that is one of the best shows i have ever been to in my life.

if you know what summerfest is... they were playing a stage with a tent over it, about 97deg that night (97 at about 9:30 PM. it was sweltering in there. all those dudes had full suits on and were playing like mad.

a chick passed out from the heat in the middle of the crowd andf the golf-cart ambulance took 40 mni to get through the crowd to her. everyone was trying to make room, but as people at the fest walked by and heard the micus and heard the cheering... they joined the crowd.

i was lucky to be up about 5 feet on a platform on a bar so i could see the whole crowd with my gf at the time. i have never seen a show get that much attention AFTER it started. it seemed like word was spreading throughout the fest: come see this swing band. people were leaving other shows to get near this one.

with the heat everyone was in a grumpy mood you'd suspect.

nope
i have never seen people be that "helpful" or considerate to eachother at summerfest either. they were actually sharing beers and waters if the person next to them looked dehydrated. people were trying to dance wherever they were. there was this old couple that had been at the fest and overheard the music. they started swing dancing out in one of the throughofares between stages. they had a circle of 18-15 year olds around them cheering them on. it was a blast.

the end of the show they were playing their known last song and at the break they stopped.

everyone is going WTF?

they scotty stomped on the ground (an effects pedal obviously) and started hammering out the begining to nirvana's smells like teen spirit.

the croud exploded. everyone was jumping up and down and cheering.

BBVD cut back to their song and ended the set.

i have never left a show that pumped up in my life. you just wanted it to go on forever.

best showmanship ever.

best show ever
I don't know what to put here yet.

Ah, The Church are a great band!  Marty Wilson-Piper used to be in my fave band 'All About Eve', managed to meet him a few years back.

I've seen quite a varied amount of bands that include:

All About Eve (x 4)
The Mission UK (x 4) (has drummer from The Cult now, plus bassist came back from The Cult)
The Sisters Of Mercy (x 2)
Depeche Mode
Suzanne Vega
Robert Plant
Marilyn Manson
Grand Master Melle Mel & The Furious Five (!!!!) ;)
Fairport Convention
plus numerous smaller obscure/smaller bands

Best gig was probably The Sisters Of Mercy support Depeche Mode at Crystal Palace 1993.

Our softball teams work the beer concessions at the White River Ampitheater in Auburn, Wasington which means we get to see the concerts for free(or at least listen to them if our booths are out of sight). The lineup so far this year is:

Page & Plant
The Who
Ozfest
Rush

Looking forward to a fun concert season serving suds to everyone. If you're at one of the concerts, come by and I'll hook you up.
