Head On strangeness
« on: February 26, 2000, 04:52:00 PM »
Just wondering if anybody has seen this too.  The last week on occassion I have killed a bogie on a HO attack.  His wings will be OFF at 500-600 yrds, I fly past the debris and WHAM I have nothing left on my plane.  It's not on every HO, just on actualy a couple of particular pilots.  It's happened to my 2 of my squad mates too.

I haven't got it on film yet, but i'm going to start recording every flight.   I saw it happen to one of my squadies today, the plane kept shooting after his wings fell off. Oh yeah, it always seems to be a spit too.

I don't know if it's lag or not, but the time from the other guys wings falling off to my or my squadies death is 3-4 seconds, which seems a bit long for lag.  I don't want to use the H word, but it just doesnt seem like lag to me and this never happened in brand W.

anybody else had this happen to them?

Yep, I've had this happen.

I don't see the delay as long as you seem to though.. not sure why.  I suspect I'm hitting the other guy's plane.  Either I'm hitting the parts as they come off, or maybe I'm hitting the wing that isn't there anymore?  Not sure.

It seems fairly rare for me anyway, and it seems to be when I pass really close.  I try to give the dead bogies more room now and I have far fewer problems.

And she took a round coming 'cross the Channel last trip
I was thinking 'bout my baby and lettin' her rip
Always got me through so far
Well they can ship me all over this great big world
But I'll never find nothing like my North End girl
I'm taking her home with me one day, sir

As I've done this from behind, I'm pretty sure I'm hitting debris. I try to get real close, and sometimes don't dodge well enough.

Wing mounted guns don't fall off when the wing does...

I have twice turned all the way around and was persuing the con when his shots hit and my wings came off. There were no other planes around. I bailed and checked. Hows that for lag.

BTW. i have started going to www.computingcenteral.com  and testing all my phone numbers. Found a very fast one on aol. Its working great. I test before I signe on now.

TT,

There was an extra "e" in your link to computercentral.com but when I got there could not find the specific area for testing telephone numbers.  What part of the site allows for the tests?

Thanks,

MiG

Happen's to me too, Udie.  Other plane starts falling apart at 400 or so, I don't hear pings until I pass by, then boom I'm dead.  I wonder if its some combination of lag/connection speed, wingless planes still being able to fire and catching a bullet through the cockpit causing an insta-pilot kill.

It happens often enough that I try to avoid HO's as much as I can.  I lose far more than I win.

You guys consider that maybe you are colliding with whats left of his plane, or colliding with the parts you shot off??
