He visitaba a Espana hace veinteocho anos.

I don't really know.

What I do know is that, if September 13th, 2.001 some stupid comes and say that the killings are the logical consequence of american foreign policies from June-July 1.950, I bet you would be grateful if somebody just lock the thread before it goes ballistic.

Same here. I have my own views on what is happening. But when I see some functional illiterate bash my country and my people as a whole, I can only be grateful somebody shows enough common sense and stop the thing.

You american people are (or at least that's what I used to think) consinstently respectful about death. This has not been the case with our dead, in a quite substantial number of cases.

Again, I don't think we are ready to come to a civilized debate about what are the consequences of Spain's election. What's worse, you are just putting salt in our wounds at a time when all you can say or do means nothing. If you don't want to say "hey, I'm sorry" at least leave us alone so we can mourn our dead before we can start thinking on what has happened.

Hope you're not upset with me Pepe.  I'm sorry if I gave you the wrong impression.  I am interested in the politics of Spain.  And I was there for a while...six weeks.  That was an important time to be there.

American's appear only to be respectful if the dead in question are American - they appear to be totally lacking  in the ability to empathise with any loss suffered by anyone else.

Review 95% of 2002-2003 posts on France bashing ! 5% of it was funny, the rest was trailer trash idiots jumping merrily on the bandwagon...

History will, as always, vindicate us !!

Espana, plus ultra !

Somehow that's ironic coming from a poster by the name of Shadenfreude.

WASHINGTON (AFP) – Mar 13
In New York, people gathered in silence in front of the Spanish cultural Cervantes Institute in midtown Manhattan, holding up pieces of paper printed with the image of a black ribbon.

Similarly somber events were held at the Spanish Embassy in Washington and the consulate in Los Angeles.

The US media expressed solidarity with the Madrid victims and drew direct parallels with the September 11 strikes against the United States 30 months ago.

"We are all Madrilenos now," declared the New York Times.

"Terrorists respect no national boundaries, political systems, ideologies or religions. The fight against them must be just as multinational," the newspaper said in an editorial.

“Spain Reels from a '9/11'" ran the headline in the New York Post, which said New York and Madrid were now "sister cities -- united in pain and outrage, and gripped with a determination not to let the terrorists win. Not ever."

In the western state of New Mexico, once a Spanish territory, Governor Bill Richardson said he was shocked and saddened by the terror strikes, which he labeled "a tragedy for a great sister country."
Holden McGroin LLC makes every effort to provide accurate and complete information. Since humor, irony, and keen insight may be foreign to some readers, no warranty, expressed or implied is offered. Re-writing this disclaimer cost me big bucks at the lawyer’s office!

The real truth of posting on a BBS is it is pointless, except to pass the time.  However I get the feeling you don't like my opinion, and that's ok, I don't like yours either.:)

I said this because you didn't specify it was your opinion. You just said "it appears that..." which I consider it makes the whole statement false.

It's not a prerogative, it's the nature of things  ;)

One perhaps should add the caveat that internet bulletin boards of this sort  though representing a microcosm of American white males in the 18 to 55 age group are not representative of America as a whole.

I apologise if I offended anyone however I found the posts Grunherz et al offensive in the extreme - they should in my opinion be banned from the board for six months to allow them to reflect on their actions.
