Americas Army the game
« on: February 25, 2004, 02:54:25 PM »
Is there anyone playing this game? I think it would be alot better and alot more fun if punkbuster can get rid of all the hacks. Besides the hacks there really isnt anyone who tries to be tactical. Its just a shoot them up game to most. Last night I was on a leased server with some guys who used tactics and no one seemed to be cheating and I had a ball. Most nights I get extrememly frustrated with getting shot thru the fog or beyond visual range. The recoil hack aimbots and all those other hacks are ruining a great game. Its a shame that men need to cheat to make themselves feel good.

About half of TAS is playing. I think we all agree with you. We mostly play Army official servers. It avoids some teenage admin foolishness.

Was playing a non-Army server one night and the admin decided it'd be great if everyone only had a bolt action rifle on CSAR. He could only change one player at a time, so sometime in the round, your frame would freeze and then there'd be the start out loading of the gun. Only instead of your RPK you suddenly had a bolt action.

When asked why he said he thought it'd be more fun if things were "equal". Never mind that you might be in a face to face shootout when he changed your gun.

After that, I stuck to Army servers.

The hacks are getting pretty prevalent and annoying though. It's pretty east to tell who's using them too. Generally, I just log that server if there's a hacker. It's indeed sad when one has to cheat at an internet game to be happy.

I looked at the Call of Duty demo; it's interesting. Heard that Red Orchestra may be good.

None are worth a dang if they don't police the hacks. I think we don't realize what a good job HTC does in that respect.

I find it very difficult to compete because I dont use hacks. Its to the point where I was going to quit last night until I got on that server. One night some dude was trying to kick me off cus he said I was worthless. I can barely hit anything unless I am a sniper. The recoil is to much to go up against guys who dont have recoil.

I just started in January, handle is "guthwine."  So far the only maps I've played are on official servers and include Bridge SE, Pipeline SF, and during my "training" period MOUT McKenna and HQ Raid.  It's kinda fun, though the server-side hit tracking is one thing I don't like (and why AH is still unbeatable in that respect).  After a while I just remind myself that I will get funky results while online sometimes and that helps to keep me from getting too frustrated.  What maps do you folks hang around in?

Waaaaaaay back in the day, I played pretty regularly.  I love the bridge and mountain pass, and became a pretty good sniper (no reference, keep this thread clean).

yeah i play a bit...honestly i have maybe encountered 1 possible cheat in the past year and 4 months...i stick to non official servers (most of em are good...and cheaters almost never use em cause there only after honour) and really have a ball when things get rollin...

i also learned that im a curse to squads....of the 3 ive joined while there all of them collapsed within 2 weeks of my joining!

Okay, probably a thread hijack.  One of these days, I want to get together an OFP group to do coop work. If you like working tactically in groups with realistic situations, the solution in my book is an OFP Coop game. The problem is, nobody has the skill and ability to make them work right.
(well, except for a handful of guys. And I really should be working on other things.  Still, I think we could probably get a "tac night" working)
