When i try to start aces high two error messages appear.  The first one says C:\Program Files\HTC\Aces High\aceshigh.exe
A Device attached to the system is not functioning.
The second states  The ACESHIGH.EXE file is linked to missing export DSOUND.DLL:12.

Reinstall sound card drivers and directx.

The error report comes from directsound driver, either you have no sound in your box or your directx version is not up to date.

AH WONT START WITHOUT SOUND!!

Actually, you need to upgrade DirectX.  AH requires DX8.0 or later.

You can get it here: Microsoft DirectX

That error is due to either the sound drivers not being installed for DirectX or from using a version of DirectX older than 8.0.
The error message is coming from the operating system.

Run DXDIAG (Start->Run->DXDIAG) and note what version of DirectX is installed, then run the Sound diagnostics using the Sound tab.
