Actually it's VF-5b (1946-1948).

VF-17 never transistioned to the F4U-4.

An interesting aside. There were also AD-1 Skyraiders deployed alongside this squadron.

Thanks for the image there Rafe. Even though it isn't VF-17 its a nice shot to have.
