Only because the default graphics quality settings are lower than before.

I can now run at 1280*1024 and move the sliders up a quite a bit above the defaults and still get in the 50+fps

I have noticed exactly zero improvement in FPS in beta 18.  It's exactly the same for me as 17 and 16.

The only difference I've noticed is a reduction in texture loading freeze around new planes due to the caching.  But that's at the cost of making it a pain to work on new skins, because I have to delete the cache folder for the plane before my changes show up in the game.

I can see that being a pain in the prettythang Bullet...

I only difference in my system spec from B17 to B18 is that I went to the Cat 4.3 drivers for my 9600, could this be where I have picked up some performance...?

No improvement here.

Hmm.  Might try that to try to keep this rig viable.  But I've got a whole new top-end system arriving here later in the week, which is where I'll concentrate my efforts for a while :)
