Well Udie, to be honest, I haven't done my homework on Kerry yet, I was hoping that John Edwards would've been the Democratic nominee.
As far as being a liberal, I feel that one can consider himself a liberal, and yet still retain a sense of logic and common sense about every issue.
I'm very liberal when it comes to supporting education and the arts, and saving the whales, etc.....
But when it comes to foreign policy, I'm a student of history, so in my opinion, all these people who think we can negotiate our way to a settlement with Al Quaeda, are fools.
That being said, I don't think the Bush administration has been very successful in gaining the support of the world at large in our attempt at snuffing out terrorism. We had the support of the world immediately after 9/11/2001, but that has changed since our invasion/liberation of Iraq.
To be fair to the Bush administration, I wouldn't wish this situation on my worst enemy. They may have dealt with it to the best of their ability, but IMO their best wasn't good enough. We need a new president who will be able to crush terrorists and terrorism on the one hand, while at the same time garner world support. Is Kerry the man for the job? I don't know, but I'm ready to give someone else other than George W. Bush a chance.
In one area I give the Bush administration an A+. That was the decision to go ahead and invade Iraq and overthrow Saddam against the wishes of the United Nations. Presently, the United Nations reminds me of the League of Nations in the 1930's. They have no stomach for war. But this country is at war with terrorism, and we can't fight it strictly with words and sanctions. I cringe every time I hear of another US Serviceman killed in Iraq, but at the same time, I realize that invading Iraq was a necessary evil.
