I was just flying around online for a bit and I started to cofigure and save some of the views.  The more I configured, the more I liked the idea (actually being able to look around the headrest, etc.).  It actually felt like I was *flying* through real space when I would look back & around the headrest, and give a little rock to the wings to check six.  It certainly has potential.

I did, however, come to a few positions that simply made the 3D cockpit look awefully bad.  This is that point to where you've zoomed and panned to such a degree that the cockpit looks like a paper cut-out... or remarkably "flat" for being 3D.

But I was just wondering - and would like to ask the guys at HTC - about how far along are you with the current cockpit graphics?  Let's take the P-51 for example... are you finished?  50%?  10%?  Could you give us some indication as to what we'll be seeing after the beta is over?

Thanks,

Ivedog

Hey Ivedog,

Sure a lotta good sticks around here. Heck, ya know online sims are never done. Having said that, 3D cockpits will never be as pretty as 2D will. But gaining a neck after all these years is well worth it imo. It's just like when we went to 3D wings outside the cockpits. They are not as pretty as 2D art, but you can see control movement, damage and wings coming off. Wouldn't want to go back to 2D static view now. A step forward!

Thanks for your understanding Brazos. The cockpit will never be done, the better the boards available the better our graphics will be. we plan on continually upgrading the graphics. the more the boards can handle ONLINE the more we will put in. we might add alittle more before beta is over, but right now we would like to focus our attention on creating new planes.... then we can go back and spice up the old one.

Now back in your hole! There will be no supper until you've completed the next model, young man!
