Pongo i am a great believer in calling it as i see it.

If i wanted to call you a liar, i would have done just that.
Whether it be on a bbs or face to face i call it as i see it.

Nowhere in my post is the word liar mentioned, unfortunately you chose to interpret it that way.

I based my comments on the results from an earlier fps test with the betas in which i had the fastest system, so yea i am extremely surprised to find you doubling my fps in the latest beta.

Surprised enough to enquire what your using to get them results, now knowing that i have still not called you a liar.
Its quite possible the AMD cpu does better suit AH2 then again if you end up being the only one with results twice as fast i shall just file them under wtf !

ChasR just posted similar setup to yours and nowhere near the same results this is why i question them.

Hell we need to find out why yours is so good so we can all get some.

Also do you all get near identical results no matter the resolution ?  

That alone seems kinda wierd to me.

I get the same result regardless of resolution.

I've played with every setting possible with the datail sliders at maximum and the visibility set at 3 miles and can get my AMD/ATI box to 22 thru the windscreen on the runway by reducing maximum texture size to 128, and unchecking all the video settings boxes.  Tell us the secret, please.  At least tell us your triangle count 109 g10 thru the windscreen on the runway.

I didnt do any of that. I just moved the sliders to the right as far as they go. I have no secrets nor any expertise on the matter. No updated drivers..nothing.  I may well have some other thing set to something that makes it go faster becuase of less details..I dont know. For me the frames seem like AH1.
I have not changed resolution. I havent done anything but move the sliders to the right.
Now to make it so I dont ctd after 20 seconds in the air I have the bottom slider only 4/5th of the way along.

That slider position could explain it.  For maximum quality in setup/video/graphic detail the level of detail slider would be all the way left.  The displayed object size slider would be all the way left.  The ground detail range would be all the way right.
I don't see how we could be comparing apples to apples with similar setups with one getting 30 FPS more than the other.  The triangle count will tell the tale.

ya. 12 on the runway at first then 18.
cant fly at all anywhere near those trees.

P4 2.4OC @ 3.0
512 mushkin PC3500 black lvl 2 ddr ram
ATI 9800Pro

Res set @1600x1200 32bit
With evrything to the left I got 35 flying low over field and 55-60 in air.
Did not check it on the runway will do that and get back.

But i will say firing guns drops FPS a bit.

Cobra,
Try the bottom slider all the way to the right (3 mile ground visibility) and see what happens.  You should find hat it has no effect at altitude but causes a big frame rate hit near the ground.  Attacking ground vehicles would be nearly impossible at this setting with other detail sliders maxed.
