I don't know much about turbine engines, but wouldn't take a bit of time for it to get up to speed before engaging the transmission?

Yeah, it probably has a bit of a warmup time, but not too bad.  They crank up pretty quick really.  
And the sound alone would make it worth it.  
I don't know how many of you are into radio control aircraft, but the turbine powered versions of those are pretty awesome to hear as well.
I want that bike...  *sigh*

Yep, popular mechanics did a big article on Leno's bike a few years back.  The same guy who makes the motorcycles also makes a pickup truck powered by a turbine.
