I work with people who examined Chernobyle explosion site and still analyze the data from there. Belive me, it's not that scary...

Soviet limits were 5 Rads yearly. I can assume that 15-20 Rads must be acsolutely safe for youe health.

Again: the only people who died after Chernobyle explosion were the firemen who literally were extinguishing fire stepping on burning heat-emitting elements with their boots.

WTG radiophobia. Rip, keep on watching TV.

Pictures are great. She is a gifted photographer.

BTW, you can see similiar pictures of disater in almost any region of former USSR. It's just the way people live. So it goes :(

I love this pictures of tombstone crosses on the ground. On lake Seliger ten years ago I saw tombstone crosses with photos of Men wearing Imperial Army uniforms and medals.

Soviet power ended 30km from big cities. In soviet times people lived better, but now they only survive in village regions.

I seem to remember someone posting pics here taken by a photographer who flew over Chernobyl in a helicopter and died later of radiation poisoning.  Didn't some of the helicopter pilots and cement workers also die?

"Maybe" makes me offended.

I'll have a cousin with his "scientific chief" from Barnaul (Altai) in my home in June, if you'll come in July or August - I'll be proud to offer you a dwelling place (or accomodation?).

Edit: how do you write Cyrrilic?... ;)

Some of the enviromental disators in the former soviet union are a real tragedy. They grew too fast without consideration for the health of the land they lived on. Chernoblye is just one people focus on because the nuclear aspect. I still do agree in using nuclear power plants. Although i am not for removing the ones we have untill a viable option is available.
