To the Wizard of Oz
« on: April 04, 2004, 12:08:28 PM »
Well first when anyone takes it upon themselves to do something for his community he is to be commended! Fester.  I will say up front that for me building a map is akin to watching grass grow:(  That said, to each his own and thank God we have people that like it!

The 339th FG is a P-51 JABO squad.  Strat guys if you will.  We KILL bases.  Lots of them and we are very very good at what we do.

To Fester:
Much of what I say may have already been mentioned but I am not about to pour through 100 posts in several threads to find out.  I speak only for myself and from the perspective of the 339th Fighter Group.  Not for all the "Start Cats" out there.

Problems:
1.  The background is killing us visually.
2. A-138 - The north FH can not be brought down.  It was hit directly with 4 1000lbers and 12 rockets and Machine/Cannon rounds.  We suspect the Southern one may be the same but we were unable to put that much Ord on it.
3. The Ack/Flak - It is just way way too accurate and there is too much of it.  The same for the CV's.  As we attacked a CV last night it was interesting to watch our pursuers back off.  They knew we were dead!  Yup, we got a few hits but there were No survivors and only one target destroyed.  A hapless pilot that chose the wrong time to spawn on the CV.  Another mission upped in 47's.  Same results.
4. This map is pretty much a Clone of Big Isles??  I think one of these per map rotation is plenty.

Pluses:
1. I think the FH, BH being silver and hiding the goofy white dots is Great and long needed.  If you can't tell the difference...tough.
2. FPS and Lag seem to not be an issue.  FPS was good throughout. They were good even when the 339th was engaged, after a JABO run, with many fighters over a field that also had the ferocious ACK pounding away.
3. The airfields are VERY cool!  Nice to see dirt (More historical) runways.
4.  Map detail is excellent.

In all Fester, Not too bad.  I hope you'll continue to fix the errors/bugs and make some adjustments.  I think the main thing here for Strat Cats is to correct the Ack settings.  If kept as they are your map becomes a bit lame for us as it tends to favor FBers and GVers.  There is certainly no reason we all can't have some fun with this map.

Well to the Community from the 339th FG.  Thanks for reading.  Fester thanks again and thanks for taking a look-see at the things I mentioned.

Regards,

138 is a standard airfield i cut and pasted from the htc objects file.

as to flak accuracy ive noticed it too but its beyond my control.

need htc to check the flak ai settigns it seems higher than normal.
Fester was my in game name until September 2013

Thanks for the comments!

Truly, in a world of whiners the 339th tries to stand above.  I'm very glad you didn't view my post that way.  We play tuff and stay tuff.  The life of a JABO pilot is rewarding but deaths coming off target come quickly and often.  Our personal scores suffer at times, as you might imagine.
LOL!  If the Ack stays this concentrated and this accurate, we're going to be looking for new jobs :)

Ok, I'll try the North and South FH's at 138 again.  We had no problems with the other 2 FH's and the VH.

I guess I'm not sure how to have HTC take a look at the ack settings?  Help??

Sir

Well go figure.....

I decided to brave a lone JABO mission deep into enemy territory to check out what I said about the North FH at A138. I slipped through undetected, lined up and delivered 6 Rocks and 2 1000 lbers dead on the target.  Boom!!  Down came the FH.  It sure wouldn't fall last night.  Anyway that's solved!

I LOVE the map, Fester :)

My comment is this..

I chased a number of enemy DAR dots that turned out not to be there. I have also seen (as well as others in my squad), what looks like 2 planes flying together.. then one.. then a "piece" of a single plane flies off and flies with it for a short time, then disappears.

"God's Eye" mode from an administrator is what we thought it was.. but I've seen it too many times to think it's not some kind of bug.

SALUTE!

try this.....

3 direct burst of mossie ammo on la7.....lala flies away

2 hits of 30mm and 20's on spit9.....9 flies away

1 long burst of 20mm hazooka Hurri2C ammo on a 109G6.....109 flies away.....

a few of us have notice these things happen...

just an observation:aok
