For all those complaining about the abundant P38's

It will pass.

Just like all those F4U-1C's we saw 3 weeks ago, it will pass.

When the compression gets added in future revisions, it will pass.

When the next new plane gets added to the set, it will pass.

Let everyone fly it for the next few days, wring it out, find out what it will do. (I'm not particulary fond of the P38, but I have to learn it anyway!  ).

Besides, there are less Spitfires up now...   <jk>

Well said, Kieren. When the honeymoon ends, only those of us stupid...er, dedicated enough to continue learning how to kill in the P-38 will be flying it on a regular basis.

Gotta love those counter-rotating props, though!

LOL! took one up for a quick hop; determined where to attack one from; got a feel for it's climb; turn and accel; and promptly ditched it.

Hhen hopped into my trusty pony; and had a blast killin all the damn things. They wuz about last night like VW's in mexico.

Thanks HTC for such a nice big target.

Biggest problem I'm having so far in the 38 is Blackout...every time I pull to line up a target, I'm blacking out and loose sight of it

Fast fighter it is, but where the H*** is my G-Suit ? (Not to mention the brown bag...)

Same here, Saintaw.

Last night, Tern and a buddy of his latched onto my 38 at about 24,000ft. I started a spiral dive, then promptly blacked out. I released the stick, hoping that that would bring my vision back....nope.

So, I chopped throttle to idle, and gradually started pulling back on the stick, just hoping that I was oriented correctly. After what seemed like 30 seconds(was probably only about 10), my plane leveled out at about 15,000ft, and I finally regained my sight. Then Tern and said buddy proceeded to chew my machine to shreds.

This leaves me wondering what I did wrong. I've done this spiral dive in other planes and didn't lose my vision, so I'm a bit perplexed.

You black out when you pull excessive G- that part is obvious. So, how is the G greater in the 38 while spiraling than other planes?

1.) Greater roll rate at speed than many a/c, and;
2.) Greater elevator authority.

Combine these two attributes and you're squeezing a deeper butt impression in the cushion.
