It's only a few dysfunctional cut-n-pasters with little work to do, combined with some people who recycle under different identities that screw up many discussions on this board.  Other then that, over the years I've found there's a fair number of pretty smart people from a variety of diverse backgrounds who post here.  Admittedly, moderation can get a bit erratic from time to time, but ultimately Skuzzy catches up to most of the drivel.

For a change, try these for some intelligent topical discussions on politics, Iraq, religion etc......

GoAGW
Very new... mostly old WB, AH and other flight simmers.... moderated pretty well and so far the narcissus academic types have stayed away.

Checksix
Also a lot of flight simmers and is moderated pretty well now, as compared to the past.  A little irreverent on some topics, but generally a smart and fun group of people who know each other pretty well.  Caution: Thinner skinned and "needy" egos may experience problems, but it's all in good fun. ;)

Badger

Then how do you cope?  You left this board because of your thin skin.  IMO, Checksucks is a pig pile of 4-letter words compiled in a chaotic mess that reads similiar to listening to my 8 year old and his friends when they get together (minus the 4 letter words)  Here is a board where the board owner and a poster have such a huge girl fight that it spills over to this board, then the owner makes the poster a moderator on his own board! LOL! Nothing like kissing someones butt because they whooped your ***.  But hey, if you like pics of birdies in the spring, or stories about how you prevented some old guy from getting his butt greesed by 3 young punks, its a good place for ya!

LOL.... :D

I've never left the board, only stopped subscribing in the Fall of 2000, just as some other folks did about that time.

Rip, I know my 130 posts pale in comparison to your 14,000+ and I think that's with at least one speedometer roll over .... No?  :)

Just stirring the pot as usual?  No work again today I see.... ;)

You really need to find something  else to make you feel more secure about yourself.  This subtle electronic stalking thing you have with some folks is really not healthy.  ;)

Badger

Well, since my thread about the benefits of high doses of sex helping to prevent prostate cancer got deleted by Skuzzy here yesterday, I'm left wondering if it was the content that got it deleted(I "Ripsnorted it" from the Chicago Sun Times), or was it because I used a certain medical term for releasing bodily fluids beginning with the letter "E" three times in the thread title.

Oh well, since we're moving to a "G" rating for this forum, it's safe to bring my son in here to discuss the next Disney movie.

Badger, to be fair to Ripsnort, I'm afraid you're the one with the fragile ego, not him. If I remember correctly, you left here in a huff back in 2000 because everyone here made fun of your pompous rantings about how to run a proper online business. No offense intended, but you did, at the time, come across as a sort of "Rush Limbaugh" of the online world, with all kinds of words of wisdom for HTC on how to run their business properly.

That being said, we all have our faults, including myself. So I hold no grudges against you, nor do I hold a grudge against Ripsnort for not having an original thought in his shiny head! :D

Come now, stop being so modest. I've seen your wife, you must've used some heavy duty romantic phrases to land a woman like that! :)

You just need the proper motivation, that's all. Here, let me put on my robe & wizard hat......

That's true partner.....

I did vote with my pocketbook and canceled my AH subscription after discovering that as long standing customer,  I was paying $30/month while numbers of new "two weekers" who had not signed up, were being offered lifetime subscriptions rates of between $9.95/month and $19.95/month as a test marketing program.  I did feel "let down" by HTC after being a loyal and positive contributor to both the beta and their on-going growth efforts.  After finding out about the "special program", I did let my disappointment get the best of me and I made a mistake in raising the issue publicly, instead of just leaving quietly, which I do regret and apologize.

After four years and the subscription rate being halved, I'm looking forward to trying AH2 when it's released.  I hope it's highly successful for HTC in generating new subscriptions.  :aok:

Badger
