Atlas 2AS Launch - Orlando Area
« on: April 08, 2004, 08:06:38 AM »
I'm going to Orlando and Cocoa Beach, will be catching this launch.

ATLAS

Anyone from the area have any tips for the trip, I'll be there for a week. Do you pay $35 for the visitor center for the launch or just go to the beach?

Creamo,

Well.. you can pay 35 bucks to see it at the visitors center or you can go to Jetty Park (Located at 400 E. Jetty Rd., Cape Canaveral) It's right across the way from the Cape. It's best to call the park to see if they will be open for the launch. (321) 783-7111

Theres some cool places in Kissimmee, like Stallion 51 (They have @ 8 ponys), Tom Rielly's Flying Tiger Museum/Restoration( The have a quite a bit of A/C including a P-38 being restored),and  WarBirds Adventures (My personal Fav. you can fly AT-6 Texan..pretty high dollar 150-500 but well worth the fun!)

If you want to meet up for a drink shoot me a PM.

Good info nuch, I called and it's $5 a car, and the park is open. She asked what kinda a rocket is was and told her it was a Atlas which she kinda laughed at (the Shuttle must just kiss ass) but wasn't really clear on it. She did say you see it go up and then FEEL it. I'm stoked. We launched a K700 composite rocket for friends 100 feet away and they nearly shat themselves. Even at 6 miles, this ought to be good as it's about a million times the impulse.

My Dad flys a Tomahawk to work and is hell bent we go to this.

Sun-N-Fun

I'd do a Warbird flight, but after doing a fast approach in Wisconsin in his Tomahawk from 4K just short of the runway, I'm too damn old to enjoy that type of stuff. It wasn't that fun, no Saiteks.
