water that isnt a texturemap?

water changes its color so drastically depending on the angle its viewd from and all the reflections it casts.

I'm seeing on a lot of other games including the online download game fighter ace that water is being rendered procedurally instead of with just a bmp texture and the look is much better.

any thoughts on looking into somthing similar for AH?

because a simple BMP will never truely look like water from more than a single angle.

Have you seen the water in the new game "Far Cry"?

I would die to see that kind of water in AH2.

How about an option for GF4 and similar cards for pixel shader water? It doesn't seem to hurt performance at all.
