2 hard lockups with speakers clicking away madly requiring cold reboot

Exactly what happens to me in recent versions !

Sometimes (usually in the moment I open fire), speakers start clicking and everything freezes for about 2-3 seconds or even longer.

Since it started happening just as I upgraded my joystick, I blamed the digital upgrade for this, but it seems it happens to others too, right ?

My system:

Celeron 333 @ 416
64 MB RAM
Asus V 3400 TNT 1 card
Monster MX 300 soundcard
TM F22/TQS/Rudders with digital upgrade

Increasingly numbers of discoes lately.Tonight 4-5(?).I get a few short red flashes on beacon then loose connection. When out and pinging HTC i get usual good pings (160-180) and no loss.Frustrating.

Just on a side note good rudder authority now in new patch.Thx!

Edith; looking at score I am credited for only 2 discoes.Hmmm...

I just had cable-modem instaled, not 1 disco tonight!
Did 2 trace routes, they came up 107, and 102.
It's much more fun when things work properly!

I am getting increasing disco's too at the moment. No lock-ups, just host connection lost. Often I get a beacon then back in green then a new beacon, then sometimes I have no more and continue flying, but sometimes I get the third beacon and I get dropped.
I always go out and trace HTC, but so far I have come up with no oddities. Dunno what it is.
One of my discoes was two nights ago, where there were about 60 players, when I began noticing strange happenings (icon range out to 13K and such), and when I checked roster we were just 10 people. moments later I got discoed myself.

LLv34_Snefens;

I seldom look at the "Beacon Light" unless I notice a problem.  Often times this will be the first thing that I notice.

One other sure fire way to know you have been disconnected is if you type text into the radio buffer and it does not come out in the chat buffer.  Or, you notice the chat buffer has quit scrolling.

Hristo, I've experienced this on a consistant basis forcing me to get closer and closer for kills, especially on maneuvering airplanes.  I started filming every engagement.  Slowing down the films to a snail's pace, I discovered that some of my targets would jump up to two wingspan lengths to the side after I opened fire.  There was nothing gradual to the jump: in one frame the target would be fixed in the sight with proper lead and the next frame, outside the gunsight with a noticable horizontal displacement.  The bullets simply passed through empty air where the aircraft or a part of the aircraft had been.  In most instances, I was absolutely sure the guns aiming solution would result in hits.  I've been attributing this to net lag... still frustrating.

Mig,
The guns do have kick.  If you are looking at the enemy in Zoom mode the kick of your guns might cause a sudden yaw, making him jerk out of your sights.  Just an idea.

I don't get it.  I just switched to a cable modem, but had 3 discos tonight (my second night flying with cable ISP).  What could be wrong?  Could my computer be screwed up?  Could my copy of the game be screwed up?  Do I just have bad luck?
Help!

During the week I'm on a 100baseT network and get discoed.  I don't believe connection method has much to do with our problem.  The one time my computer didn't lock after a disco in this new version I immediately ran a traceroute with ping plotter.  (I posted the results in the tech support forum under "A few tracerts for you." )  My problem has been sprint or savvis dumping packets.  The 850ms delay doesn't help much either.    My normal connection averages about 65ms to HTC.
Over the past few days I've also been having problems with rubber bullets, and I've also seen what appeared to be bullets passing through planes.
