I don't understand some of the fingers being pointed at Bush on the issue. Didn't anyone hear when Rice told the panel that the VERY FIRST major US national security policy directive the Bush administraion produced was ready by 9/4, and focused on the threat of Al Quida and the need to completely destroy them? Seems he took it seriously enough to me. "The subject, she said, was "not Russia, not missile defense, not Iraq, but the elimination of al-Qaida" Rice said.
One of the other things that bothers me is that people and some on the panel are saying Bush didn't act on the warnings...... the same people that complained Bush acted on the warnings he received on Iraq. Cant have it both ways ( unless you're John Kerry

)
Imagine if Bush invaded Afghanistan, pre-911. The uproar arpound the world would have been 10 times as loud. As it is, even after 9-11 there were plenty of people complaining about the US fighting back against them in Afghanistan.
Oh well, 'round and 'round we go I guess.
