Any plans to make the terrain textures open to modification (like AW3/SAC)?  Inquiring minds want to know...

Squirrel I hope you don't hate me for this.

Squirrel and several others have given a new and fantastci face lift to the graphics in AW3.
Squirrels' terrain, sky and water texture work, when combined with the work of several other REALLY good people who did some new and fantastic aircraft skins, helped create what is called "SAC" (Scenario Aircraft Converter) in Airwarrior. Please take a moment to look:

It was to allow folks to change plan skins
to match historical events.

I'd welcome such a feature wholeheartedly.

Great work done by Squirrel et al.  I wrote a three part review of AW3 for Dogfighter.com and I wasn't all that fond of the flight or gunnery models.  What really impressed me though was all the custom plane skins and terrain sets.  Funny how a detail like that can go a long way.  Much more immersive to be flying a Bf109 in desert camo when in a North African scenario then in standard grey/green livery.

Don't quote me on this, but I recall from when this board first opened that HTC indicated it would accept terrain submissions.  I presume that means entire terrains (the beta one was sumbitted by Shaun "Ogre" Thomson in a contest) and not textures, but not necessarily.

I think the verdict is still out on customizable planes skins.  If it does happen it would purely be for the player's FE and not server data.

Here's hoping we see both!

Cheers,

Correct the terrain editor will be opened up to everyone when it gets more polish. We are already set up for multiple texture sets on the terrain to enable seasonal changes. As to costomizable plane skin's the jurry is still out.

That's great news HiTech. And fair enough.
What you folks think is best is fine with me.
It is a nice feature to be able to select
different options for aircraft or terrain.
