I use a mouse all day at work on a CAD machine and my hand gets somewhat stiff by the end of the day. At home I use a Logitech Cordless TrackMan Wheel Mouse and its TERRIFIC for comfortable computing. Its a much more natural position for your hand than that damn marble mouse (which I have used also - and it strained the tendons on the back of my hand).

If you insist on using your fingers, one that better fits your natural hand position would be better - like this one.

Whatever you use, make sure your elbow is supported when operating either a mouse or trackball. Don't push on the wrist or "bridge" your arm between your wrist and shoulder. THAT is what kills your wrist.

I tried one of those for about an hour... That thing hurt almost as much as a mouse. Thing is, it's not my wrist that hurts. It's the top of my hand... behindand around my knuckles.

I got an idea at the hospital awhile back when they were taking my oxygen saturation level. I was thinking, with the way the optical mouse is set up, why not put that optical on your index fingertip? The left click would be on your thumb, and the right click on your middle finger. The left and right click would be set up just a little more sensitive. Picture your hand resting open on your quadricep(lap), you just move your hand around and lightly press on your thumb or middle finger to left or right click, and you could place your hand anywhere comfortable.(and no perverted replies:lol )

I switched to using my mouse left handed last month, carpal tunnel I think. It has gotten better since I switched.

Sandy I sympathise with ya. I couple of years ago I felt my first "ache" from age. That's when I knew that I couldn't do as much as I used to. The job that I work at now when I come home my legs are tingling from all the walking/lifting that I do. I remember as a kid in my early 20's I could do stuff ALL day and not feel a thing. Now, it's a lot different.

Yeah, like wine we get better with age but there's a lot of whine with that wine.
