you build 1:72 right?

Tamiya "shrunk" their excellent 1:48 bubbletop jug to 1:72.

Can't ever go wrong with a Tamiya kit of anything really.

I'd heard that Tamiya was going to do some serious challenging of Hasegawa's dominance in 1/72 scale, mostly by "scaling down" their excellent 1/48 kits one at a time.  Thanks for the pointer to the discussion forum on the P-47.

Magic words:

"tubular rocket launchers"

"Cockpit has excellent detail"

"the "sugar scoop" inside the engine cowling as a separate piece"

I don't get as bent out of shape about the Hamilton Standard prop as those guys in the thread do.  The easy solution is to cut off the kit's blades and replace with a clear plastic disk cut from a Matchbox toy car package (or similar plastic) and display the kit as doing an engine run-up or in flight.

Now if only they'd do a birdcage Corsair!
