Is there a way to either lighten the gunsite background or darken the cross hairs on the gunsite?
Personaly I would like to see the dark back ground removed or make it a lighter shade.
Some AH input would be nice.
Thanks all.

The gunsight is a graphics file in bmp format (32x32,256 colors). It's located in your AH\sights folder and called default.

Me thinks I just have to check if all 256 (one transparent) colors can be used and if you can give the sights plane names to make different sights for different planes.

I asked HiTech about this already, all you have to do is edit the default gunsite to your preferences.

Just checked the gunsights - you can use any color (the in-flight gunsights will almost always appear darker since they are blended with grey color against the reflector (?) sight). Just rename them like the plane names in the settings to get different gunsights for different planes:

p51d.bmp
109g10.bmp
spit9.bmp
la5fn.bmp

(B-17G and C-47 have no gunsights)

Did you test the diferent plane sights?
I had planed on it working that way and wrote that piece of code about 6 months back so i never tested it for the different planes. So im just wondering if it works.

Sorry fella's, I'm not a computer wiz when it comes painting on a computer.  Tried to get to change the back ground and it didn't work.  Hopefully some of you guru's can make some sights and change the back grounds so that people like can copy them and install them in the folder.

If anyone can post detailed information on how to edit the color of the reflecting gunsight, I'd sure appreicate it.

The sight glass is so dark that I almost lose sight of target aircraft against the green terrain.

I'd like to make it only slightly tinted or even transparent.

Thanks

HT: Yes, I did test the different gunsights on all planes. Works for all except B-17 and C-47 (no default gunsight)

Todd, Toad: If was talking about the lines of the cross, sorry. Looks like I misunderstood your question. If would guess that the color of the gunsight reflector (the glass plate) itself has to be changed by the programmers.

I made up a quicky P-51D gunsight:

I'd like to look at some actual historical reference to do specific gunsights, but I think this comes close to the 51's.

Toad hit the nail on the head.  That's what I was talking about.  Hopefully AH could lighten it up a bit.

This is the only problem ive come across so far. The glass plate being to dark on top of the spinning prop makes it very hard to see any cons though it.

Ive started dipping the wings to see better as the prop movement seems to clear up the view a bit..
