private voice channel for pilot to bombadier
« on: April 28, 2004, 02:26:36 PM »
HTC,
any chance you guys could add a private voice channel for the pilot and bombadier?  it's a bit annoying when these players have to either 1) use the range radio or 2) hog the squad channel in order to communicate.

THANK YOU!  :)

Can you join a bomber as "bombadier"? I thought the pilot could only switch to bambadier and the joined player could only gun...

Bombadier...gunner...whatever ... :D  I'm talking about the "other guy" in the plane.  ;)

Switching channels doesn't help when you would like to:
1) monitor squad vox
2) monitor range channel, and
3) call out bogies to your gunner w/out hogging either of the aforementioned channels

Just sayin'.

Yes it is possible to talk on range - but the gunner's name is never listed on the range channel listing.... possibly the pilot isn't either on the gunner's range channel listing?  It seems to work though.  :)

The question is......can everyone else within range channel, er, range hear the gunner talking to you.....or does it sound like you're having a one sided conversation?

This'd be really practical.
A permanent channel to one or both(either) the wingman and the joined player.

And a menu to choose the channel priorities, i.e. the lesser doesn't cut off the more prioritary.

Why not just have support for other voice programs like they used to have in the past. When BattleCom was in existence it was what I preferred to use simply because of the ability to switch through channels and still have a master channel where one person leading the flight could broadcast to all the different elements and not have to listen to the interflight chatter. Now I use TeamSpeak when possible in other games and like the way it works as well.

I personaly think HTC has done a good job with voice coms - better than anybody else I have seen actually. Just tune your channels.  However, you cant please everybody and if it is that big a deal, by blocking the right ports you can disable vox. (There was recently a post with the ports listed)

i never said that HT did a poor job in setting up our comms (although, a lot of people lose vox often).  i'm just saying that there is a need for a third channel.

Trying to talk on another channel with squad mates or friends is difficult with the number of discussions going on over range channel especially in areas with large concentrations of friendlies.

I don’t quite understand the aversion HT has towards allowing it to be squelched. But even so I would like to be able to tune between range and other channels.

In events you don’t really need range channel, you need squad channel, command channel and/or a wingman channel.

Range channel would be great if I could just tune to it when I need to use it. Being able to tune out some of the noise over range in the main would be great.
