Home Studio should be good....I have Sonic myself, but only use it for midi so far.. I use the piano roll edit view for drums.... every drum sound will have it's own "paino" key in the display, so it's very easy to edit each voice.

I used to try to use the Staff view which just brings up a staff and you have to place the notes you want where you want them. Well hell, its just like any other midi instrument.
I figured there was a better way and found the piano roll but I haven't had much time to write lately. Between 15 hours at school, work, family and a band I just haven't been able to record like I used to
I also wished I could drum. Well, I can somewhat. But I'm a pretty rudimentary drummer. Any swing beats or fancy bass work and I'm lost.
