Gun Sounds...and AC Directories

Okay sound dudes, I have a bunch of WAVs lined up for implementation, from other sources. What do I need to do to get, in particular, the 50s for a Stang to work? I've noticed there are 4 WAVs for "M2" in the sounds Dir of AH. I replaced the first one "M2.wav" with my new improved version, but, no-go, still sounds like tingling on a tin roof.
Help me out here.

I made two wavs for the .50`s, first I made one mg firing then copied it and mixed them together then named it m_2, then  repeated for m_4. Did the same for the 20mm cannons #1 and #2.
