I need help.
« on: April 19, 2004, 11:25:51 AM »
Okay i have not played in a while. The game rocks.. It doesn't get old quick and it doesn't stay old long.

So im getting back into my fav planes.
109
and
Hurr.

I was doing well in hurr.  Shooting down 4-5  each round.
Then these guys get in temps.
Most of the time they would just zoom in and extend.
And my poor hurr is was to slow.
I could get a few angles on him, but by the time im on his tail hes 600-700 out.

So What should i do against a situation like this.
I tried to conserve my 'E' but he can just fly out get high again and come back on.

I think my only option is the HO.. Am i wrong

i have to agree with you, if the other pilot is smart enough then you cant do much.

try to avoid HOs and only use them as a last result.
practice "baiting" start a slow turn when the other guy is about 1200 yards from you, as he get closer tighten your turn, hopefully he will follow you and overshoot, when he is just about to pass you reverse and go for the snap shot.

this is not an easy trick to do. be too aggresive and the enemy wont follow. do it too slow and he will kill you.

there was a couple of films that demonstrated it pretty well. i cant remember who post them though.

hope i helped and good luck.

When he exits say going north, turn & climb going south.

Watch for him to come back on your 6, at about 1.2k break hard, split S works great for this.  IE roll upside down, pull into downward loop. Since he's faster he's not going to be able to follow. If he DOES, you have a chance at him. If not once he's off, zoom back up & climb.

Once your above him you can start causing him some worries.

Watch the HO as he has 4 x 20mm. Comes down to a crap shoot as to which can aim better, fire, & duck.

109G10 can get a tempest if he has an alt & E head start.  Tougher in Hurri, best bet is to drag him to some friendlys in fast movers.

If you can get him to fall for a reversal great...if not then you need to convert the fight to an over/under two circle fight. If he's B&Zing you just point your nose into him and let him decide if he wants to exchange 20mm...he's controlling the HO not you...if he's smart he'll go up...now he'll roll on into you...you need to roll on up into him so your "nose to nose"...basically your loop top is his loop bottom...it's not really HO but it is a pair for front quarter/faceshots. you need to be careful to maintain vertical manuvering speed...if you get to slow you'll be floundering...also dont chase a shot...key isnot pulling up into him to soon...he'll try and mini rope u if he's any good. Truthfully if i'm in a tempest I'll go find other food to play with rather than get drawn into alow level fight with a hurricane...4 x 20mm is 4 x20mm and the hurricane will spin on a dime...actually is not a good match up for the tempest....least if i'm driving the hurricane...tempest be looking AT 4 X 20MM every time he gets inside 600 (least that would be the plan:))

Savedsaint...

If he's smart you won't ever get a shot at him, he'll conserve his e and keep playin ya.
There really isn't a straight answer.

All you can do is evade in such a way as to make him bleed e, which the posters above have outlined.

If he's not so smart +) you will eventually get him.

I've had success barrel rolling around them as they make the diving pass and getting a shot off as they zoom past but it takes a good shot do it with any regularity and some real good SA (and view manipulation.

Enough with the fancy ACM talk.  If the guy is going to fly a speed plane, HO his face.  You both have the same guns package and that's all you have in common.  He's coming in hot and will have more difficulty getting out of your way.  When you see him dive down and close to around 2.0, turn into his face.  Chances are you'll both die but hey, you'll get more perk points than he will.

When he gets on Channel 1 and complains about the HO, tell him to fly a plane that can maneuver instead of BnZ.

The following adviced helped me alot.

I was diving up and then down.. And could not get a shot on a yak.

But when i turned and cut engine down i could turn in and angle on him.

Don't know why a yak was turning with me.. but i figured it out...

i dont know about you but when i take off i do it with a intention to get the plane safely on the ground again.

So i HO only as a last result
