Is there a more haunting song?
« on: April 23, 2004, 11:23:57 PM »
Than Blind Willie Johnson's "Dark was the night cold was the ground"?

Ry Cooder's is great as well but BWJ's is just mesmorising.

Any other great slide guitar songs that anyone can recommend that are in that same style?

Slide is the ultimate playing style to me.

Muskrat Love
[Written by Willis Alan Ramsey]

Muskrat, Muskrat, candle light
Doin' the town and doin' it right in the evenin'
It's pretty pleasin'
Muskrat Suzie, Muskrat Sam
Do the jitterbug at a Muskrat Land
And they shimmy, Sam is so skinny

And they whirl and they twirl and they tango
Singin' and jinglin' a jangle
Float like the heavens above
Looks like Muskrat Love

Nibblin' on bacon
Chewin' on cheese
Sam says to Suzie
Honey, would you please be my Mrs
Suzie says, yes, with her kisses
Now, he's ticklin' her fancy
Rubbin' her toes
Muzzle to muzzle
Now anything goes as they wriggle
Sue starts to giggle

And they whirled and they twirled and they tango
Singin' and jinglin' a jangle
Floatin' like the heavens above
Looks like muskrat love
My mind is a raging torrent, flooded with rivulets of thought cascading into a waterfall of creative alternatives.
Stay thirsty my friends.

Casper the Friendly ghost is pretty haunting :)

Casper the Friendly Ghost
The friendliest ghost you know
Though grown-ups fight when he gives them a fright
The children all love him so.

He always says hello and he's really glad to meet ya
Wherever he may go he's kind to every living creature
Grown-ups don't understand why children love him the most
But the kids all know that he loves them so

Thanks for the heads up, I'll check him out.  Any particular songs I should hear first?

Dead Skin Mask was real creepy too.  I used to use War Ensemble as a motivation tool before I flew on Squad nights.

RPM....I must warn you...posting any Capt and Tenille song is a violation of the Geneva Accords.

His cover of “I can’t keep from crying” is  on his CD "Righteousness and Humidity". He also does it and "Nobody's Fault But Mine" on the Johnson tribute CD "Can’t keep from crying".
