Joystick with XP
« on: April 28, 2004, 11:21:45 AM »
I currently use a MS Sidewinder Force Feedback joystick, but some sort of conflict with XP (ludicrous that MS won't support the stick with XP drivers...) means that I keep losing the self-centering force in the middle of fights...

So I'm looking to chuck the Sidewinder out in favour of a stick that's actually compatible with XP.  Not too bothered about Force Feedback, just want a stick with all the right buttons / features and something that gives a nice smooth response.

Any suggestions (oh, and preferably, something I can get hold of in the UK)?

Cheers

I used to use this stick with my CH Throttle n peds.  I left the power plug disconnected and there were no forces.  The stick is very smooth with no nose bounce.  It still stays where it is when you let go.  You just have to make sure it is centered before engaing Autoclimb, etc.  I got a CH fighterstick for Hawaii but still use the MSFF2 in Guam.  I just used the nateve XP drivers and never installed the Sidewinder software.  Try it, you may like it.
