A quick look at his sig resolves all doubts. I did not know that Eisenhower said that, but it is just complete rubbish. A liberal demagogery at its finest.

Realist

Realists…

Are guided more by practical considerations than ideological vision
Believe US power is crucial to successful diplomacy - and vice versa
Don't want US policy options unduly limited by world opinion or ethical considerations
Believe strong alliances are important to US interests
Weigh the political costs of foreign action
Believe foreign intervention must be dictated by compelling national interest
Historical realist: President Dwight D. Eisenhower

Modern realist: Secretary of State Colin Powell

mietla... I believe that all Ike was saying is that war wastes resources and that we had better have a pretty good cause  when we go to war to outweigh the inevitable suffering...

most people would agree with that.   I think tho that by taking it out of context that strk is trying to make a point that has nothing to do with what Ike said.

Hmmm.......

Neoconservative

Neoconservatives…

Want the US to be the world's unchallenged superpower
Share unwavering support for Israel
Support American unilateral action
Support preemptive strikes to remove perceived threats to US security
Promote the development of an American empire
Equate American power with the potential for world peace
Seek to democratize the Arab world
Push regime change in states deemed threats to the US or its allies
Historical neoconservative: President Teddy Roosevelt

Modern neoconservative: President Ronald Reagan

no, I think you stated exactly what it says.  It kinds of puts the perspective on efforts that are beyond the money that is spent.

perhaps we all agree here... war costs in more than money and it should not be entered into lightly..  but... human rights and freedom are worth any cost.   Ike was beyond angry seeing the German concentration camps..  There is no way that any expense would have been spared... no war to great.. to put an end to that.

I belive Ike might have felt in a similar way about the regiem of the sadman and his sons too.

Isolationist...I say we eliminate the entire legislative branch and give the legislative power directly to the people. Let the rest of the world deal with their own problems, unless those problems affect us in the HERE and NOW - not in the FUTURE or MAYBE.
