The skies over the land terrain were filled with N1K2s and F4Us... don't start throwing in crap like "but it's the wrong planes in the wrong theater." Like I said before in another post, if you want a european conflict create rules, make a map and see if you can get participants.

You complain so much I think you forgot what you are complaining about.

Not all that surprising that they would make the first map of 1.05 a bit sea-centric, to encourage us to try out the naval stuff.  Since they change the terrain every month or so, it's a good bet the next map will balance the land, air, and sea games better.

One thing the map has given us is a whole new entertaining use for the Ostwind.  Last night I killed 4 PT boats with an Ost when they got too close to shore during a base attack.

One thing I would like to see is more PT boat bases.  Make them like Vehicle bases, scattered all around on the islands, near the airfields.  You don't need a major port to support PT boats.  Didn't anyone see McHale's Navy?

Salute to all

Actually the skies over the Pacific were not filled with F4U-c`s or N1k2`s.  They were both built in very small numbers.

N1k1`s and F4U-d`s were much more common.  And A6M5`s, P38L`s and Hellcats were most common.

Don't quote me on this, but I believe I may have seen HT mention that remote spawn points will be added in the future...

Deja, so i guess the whole whoopee game is pacific only now?

Please, point me to the location in the Pacific Ocean that this map is representing?

Point me to the location in the European theatre that the last map represented?

Go now.. look that up... as soon as you find it come back and tell us how stupid HTC is for having the wrong planes in the wrong theatre.

AKDejaVu

That should keep him away for quite a bit.

there is no "theater" but there are aircraft from all different theaters but the new map only simulates the pacific theater to a point, none of the euro theater..therfore alot of eure theater vehicles and planes are useless in this map, that is wat i was getting at when you popped the whole pacific crap.

I'd like to see spawn points from all airfields, vehicle fields and port fields within the same island.  Spawning from any field to a Port should mean a fairly long drive, with airfields and vehicle field drive times less, respectively.

Just my tuppence worth.

54 Ed is correct.  PT boats did not require elaborate bases.  A couple fuel drums on a handy rock outcropping would do for a refueling stop.   A barge could unload materials and fuel in a particular area and leave the Boat on its own for a quite a time.  Victuals and water could be carried for a couple weeks.

On the other hand they did not have a very good range.  They were extremely limited in how far they could patrol.  Certainly, they could not accompany a fleet.

I would like the current map if they would connect some more of the outer islands together. The larger land masses on the edges allow ground battles that could work their way around much of the map, and have the whole center of the map open water so there could be `Navy to Navy' battles (I don't mean the passing right through each other type). Also, having the open ocean in the center would promote the use of the P-38 from the shore to patrol out far over the water for searching out the nme fleet (Although the grid dar sorta gives that away now). Having more open water would also force the use of the `hook' on the planes more often, since planes patrolling in the center would likely have to RTB to the carrier.

I think this would also work with TAC's suggestion: Make the map bigger.

We need some gound pounding. Not much of a point in a perk Tiger if you got no place to run it. BTW how do you get perk points in a GV at all if there's no place to take it!
