Joystick gone mad!
« on: April 28, 2004, 11:11:39 AM »
S! guys, I have a prob with my joystick and I was wondering if anyone else has seen this.
Logitech USB wireless. It works fine until I try and calibrate with the in-game calibration tool. I couldnt figure our the problem until I decided to delete all of the files in the settings folder and then re-install the game from scratch. After this it worked fine. I dont think I will try and calibrate it again.
Anyone else have this problem?.

A common error occurs when calibrating a stick in the game.  When the window/dialog that pops-up and tells you to move the stick, wheels, buttons, hats... in all directions.  DO NOT press the OKAY button until you do that.

Thanks for your reply, Skuzzy.
Once I even move the stick slightly while in calibration mode, I cannot centre the stick as the little cross to show movements is moving all over. While in game the plane is moving on its own as if I am moving the stick. Its impossible to take off when this happens. Also the gunners are moving around and I cant centre anything.
Like I said, I had to delete the settings folder and re-install. Pretty weird bug, if it is a bug.
I checked windows calibration it was good. Lates driver from Logitech etc. It wasnt until I restarted the game the third time that I figured out I could clear the settings by deleting the files and re-installing.
When the window pops up and I move the stick, nothing happens for me until I say ok.
It must be me. I give it another try tonight and get back to you.
S!.

ya might want to increase the dead band a bit too. The stick may be just too sensitive.

If you're doing it right, you can't see the indicators move while calibrating. the boxes are greyed out.  Move the stick, throttle and pedals through their full range of motions while the boxes are greyed out, then click OK.  They reappear after you click ok.
